2025 Toyota Crown
I purchased my Crown Platinum in January and now have almost 4K miles on it and couldn't be happier. Besides the distinctive coupe-like silhouette, my favorite feature is the engine/transmission, acceleration is smooth and effortless. The interior is quiet, though there is some minor wind noise above 80 mph and in strong crosswinds. It has 5 driver's mode settings that can adjust the … steering, transmission and suspension. While not a sports sedan, in the "sport" setting it corners smoothly and rides relatively firmly though not harshly despite having 21" wheels, which is my preference. The brakes work fine with a linear response but the pedal is soft, I'd prefer a firmer touch. The seats are extremely comfortable, well padded with good lateral bolsters to keep you in place and are also automatically heated and ventilated. Climate control uses real switches which is a plus. The center screen is large and I find that I prefer the native Nav system over Google maps from my phone. After the free trial ends, I'll have to decide if the subscription price is worth it or not. One good thing is even if my phone is connected, I can still listen to SiriusXM via the car satellite where it sounds better than from my phone app. Speaking of sound, I've read a few mediocre reviews regarding the JBL system but I've found it to be quite good with nice clear highs and decent bass. Certainly better than the Bose systems in my last 3 vehicles. The dashboard screen has 3 separate displays which can be customized for looks and information provided. However, the personalization process is less than intuitive. I found a helpful YouTube video to assist the set-up but if I want to adjust things in the future I'll probably have to review it again. There are numerous safety features and I especially like the birds eye camera view for parking. One that is very annoying though was the driver attention monitor. It would go off whenever I touched the center screen and sometimes when I was only looking at it. Thankfully, it's easy to turn off this function. The trunk is deep but relatively shallow, which makes sense given the coupe-like shape of the Crown. It was nice to find a spare tire included which seems to be a rarity nowadays. With a mixture of city and highway driving, including a couple of road trips, I'm getting 27-31 mpg on a tank of regular gas. All in all in very please with my Crown Platinum.
