2021 Toyota Corolla Hatchback
Traded in a 2014 Mini Cooper Countryman S that was starting to cost to much to run. Actually ordered a new Mini and then decided this was a smarter choice plus it's $14k cheaper! Corolla is still made in Japan and it shows with the build quality (reminds me of my 4runner). Would not of considered this vehicle if it didn't come w/a manual. The manual is like butter and makes the car much … more enjoyable/fun. The jury is still out on the iMT feature. I don't need help with my shifting and fortunately you can turn it off (and it stays off). Cars size is about as small as I would go. In fact, my Countryman had more room inside except for the rear cargo area. I love that this has a spare tire, but make sure the Corolla you buy has one. Toyota has an option for a lower rear cargo floor and it removes the spare. I bought the SE as I didn't see much value in going w/XSE trim. You don't get any more performance from spending more money and 18" rims on this car is overkill. The OEM tires are pure garbage and actually designed for Mitsubishi's electric car. Put a set of sticky tires on it and go have fun! Great lil' runabout and you can't beat cheap fun. One of the last few cheap imports to still have a bit of a soul. I will miss my Mini, but resale and reliability are more important than style these days :-) UPDATE 12/14/2021- Sold it as it was no longer needed. I will say I got tired of the weak engine. Driving it floored all the time was not much fun. Also, hitting my head getting things out of the rear seat was getting old. Car is fine for a small person, but that's about it. It did handle and ride well. Sold it used for more than I paid new...thanks Covid!
