2013 Toyota Avalon Hybrid
This is a nice well designed car. Dealer only maintenance at high cost has been designed into the car. The Toyota Entune Navigation system is very nice and sophisticated. Unfortunately it has been designed so that absolutely only a dealer can update the map set at a cost of $550 per year. This is nice car but it has an extraordinary high cost of ownership if you use the niceness … designed into it in this system. In my usage this even exceeds the cost of the amount of gas I am theoretically saving by having a hybrid each year. This seems like a shockingly avaricious ongoing maintenance cost designed into the car by Toyota to pander to its dealers. It offends me enough that despite my affection for all other aspects of this car I would not buy it if I had know this, I will not buy another.
