2020 Crosstrek Hybrid in real life 15 EV miles

2020 Subaru Crosstrek
5,000 mile update:
Crosstrek Hybrid has a 8.8 kw battery same as Prius Prime. The difference is with Prius Prime we averaged about 30 pure EV miles before gas engine kicked in. The Crosstrek however states that 17 EV miles but in real world driving with AC on you can only get about 15 EV miles. Also Crosstrek going over 65mph the gas engine kicks on so on the highway I push "save" mode … and use gasoline instead. Subaru AWD handles well and the quality is better than Outback and Ascent because Crosstrek and Foresters are still 100% made in Japan.
I've driven cross country all highway and the best was 29 mpg. Don't buy this expecting a Prius mpg but do buy this for AWD handling and 15 EV electric off roading miles. Also the cargo barely fits 2 carry on so you will definitely need a second suv if you have a family or a dog bigger than 10lbs. Another con is rear seats do not have AC vent so it will get hot in the sunbelt.
2020 Limited and Hybrid trim level Crosstreks receive updated LED headlight design, with the Hybrid being distinguished with silver trim along the projector beams. Another feature Subaru added to all 2020 Crosstrek is automatic door lock / unlock in the event of an accident. This is an important feature that could potentially save lives.
For about same amount of money $39k msrp I would rather wait for the 2021 Rav4 Prime with over 40 EV miles. Sorry Subaru, to stay competitive you have to step up the battery range!
