Dealer Review:

I visited the dealership to look at a vehicle listed as "coming soon" It was dirty (expected that) and was in need of few (4) items to be repaired which the salesman claimed would take care of when it was detailed. After the test drive I made a down payment and agreed to close the deal and take delivery in a week. I called the day before the week had lapsed (salesman was supposed to "call me") and the salesman said it was ready. I went to pick up the car and when the brought it out it was poorly detailed and no items were repaired. I addressed these items with the salesman and he took the vehicle back to the service area only to return with one item repaired and said parts where needed to complete the other items. He created a service order (I have a copy) for those items said he would submit it and gave me a contact in the service department and said they would "call me". After a week I called them. I was told they weren't aware of the service order and asked who my salesman was and they would "call me right back" After a day I called the service manager and was told to bring the car in they had received the parts. I took in the car and said I was here for my appointment to which the service man says "what appointment" He looks at the vehicle takes pictures of items to be repaired (which the salesman had already done when he submitted the service order) and says this one item costs $300 and will need management approval! He told me the service manager will order the parts and "call me" That call never came. I called the service manager and after 3 more "I'll call you" was told parts are ready. I bring the Vehicle back and they repair one item and said they ordered the wrong part (the part that was supposedly $300). Of course they said they'll order it and "call me" I tried to contact them several times only to get excuses and that they will "call me". The solution to the problem is that of company loyalty. If the sales and service really cared for their role in the organization they could do it by providing good customer service. Also proper training of the sales staff to understand the limitations of the service department and help them provide better customer service.

I encourage anyone that has issues with financing at DON MCGILL TOYOTA OF KATY to write a letter to the Attorney General, District Attorney and Toyota Corporate along with several other consumer protection agencies. These deceptive and fraudulent practices need to stop! My husband and I made an appointment to test drive a white Toyota Hybrid Highlander with Sami Faraj at Don McGill Toyota of Katy on May 22, 2020. I had discovered the car online and wanted to take it for a test drive. We got there and spoke with our salesman and he pulled a car around similar to the one we wanted. He said the one we came in for was sold. Classic bait and switch. The car he brought was more expensive. They wouldn’t come down on the sticker price at all, because apparently they weren’t getting any new inventory due to COVID-19. Long story short our sticker came with APEX and Blue Steel protection for 1 year. The Salesman and the Finance Manager, Felipe Rodriquez both mentioned these coverage’s to us and that our car came with them. The Finance Manager did his spill about warranties, and we said we didn’t want any of them. He said with our investment we should definitely get GAP and the extended warranty. We agreed to both of these warranties. The Finance Manager then said he would throw in the tire and wheel warranty for free because we were “such good people”. Well, thanks we thought that was really nice. We signed the electronic forms on his desk screen and he gave us our USB port and we left in our new 2020 Highlander Hybrid Limited SUV. A few days later I plugged in the USB port and looked over the documents and low and behold we were charged for several warranties that we didn’t ask for. The Sales Manager upgraded our APEX to 5 years for an additional $899. Our sticker price already had Apex for 1 year at $595. He also added Blue Steel for 3 years for $199 which we already had included in our sticker price for $0 for 1 year. He charged us for Tire and Wheel at $638 after he said he was going to throw that in for free. They also charged us $250 OVER the bottom sticker price. We also notice that the original sticker of the car had Fabric and Paint Protection, but he extra Dealer add on sticker also had it included for an additional $349. When it was all said and done we were overcharged by $2335!!!!!!!!! Now we know why our Finance Manager wanted to rush us signing the documents and get us out of the room. I contacted my Sales Rep and asked for him to have the Finance Manager call me that I needed him to clarify a few questions I had on the paperwork. Needless to say he never called me back. I went up to the dealership a few days later and of course my Finance Manager was off that day so I spoke with someone else. He gave me the run around and made me feel like I didn’t understand the contact even though he did not go over the charges line by line with me. The desk manager came in and said they would have to cut a check to the lien holder for the $250 overage on the sticker price. He said they would call me when the check was cut and send me a copy of it via email. Three weeks later I never heard a thing. I sent 3 emails to my Sales Rep asking for the status of the check. He finally reached me and said the check was cut and in our name. WHAT? The check was made out in our name? The Desk Manager Sigmund said that was not possible that it had to be made out to the lien holder. My husband and I have bought 11 new cars from several different dealerships (second one from this dealership) and we have NEVER had something like this happen. We felt comfortable thinking they wouldn’t be taking us for a ride. SHAME ON US. This dealership is so busy and they truly do not care about their clientele. I would not buy a car from them and If YOU DO take pictures of the sticker on the car and go over the Finance agreement line by line and ask questions. It’s your money they are taking and financing with interest. This dealership needs to be investigated.
