    Dealer Review:

Purchased a 2013 BMW in late November from AP Fairfax as an early Xmas gift for the wife. We visited 5 other dealerships prior to our purchase and we are pleased with the purchase as well as the purchase experience. Up to this point, the wife is happy with the vehicle. However, our customer service experience after the purchase has been disappointing to say the least. 95% of the time when calling our original POCs to discuss issues that require resolution on behalf of the dealership they are "in a meeting" or "not in at the moment" and do not return calls until a few days later. Two cases in point: 1. The vehicle was missing a hard copy of the owner's manual and the dealership provided paperwork acknowledging I was owed an owner's manual. When I checked on the status of the manual a couple of weeks later, was advised they are not responsible to provide such an item...Until I provided them the paperwork that showed they owed such a manual. I was advised the manual was available of pick up this week (39 days after purchase). 2. I was advised the license plates for the car were ready for pick-up (week prior to Xmas). Wife drove to the dealership to pick up the plates and somehow the plates were misplaced. I continued asking for a status on the plates after Xmas and New Year's only to get in a perpetual loop of "it’s the holiday season and folks who work on that are in and out...will get back to you." Finally, was advised on 03 Jan that no one knows where the plates are located and they are missing (isn't there a person that oversees license plate chain of custody or tracking?). The dealership representative advised I needed to go to DMV (yes you read that right…I have to go to the DMV) to request replacement plates as they are unable to do so on my behalf. I asked if the dealership plans to re-reimburse me a portion of the titles/tags fee that I paid when I purchased the vehicle since it did not fill its obligation to provide me plates. I was advised I would not be reimbursed any portion of the fee. As such, I asked to speak to a manger and was advised "he is not in" (surprise!) and I would be called back...No calls have been received. As such, I now need to take a day off of work ($$ out of my pocket) to go stand in line at the DMV (always an awesomely joyful and refreshing experience) as a result of AP Fairfax's lack of sufficient customer service. I am hopeful my situation is the exception vice the rule; there are some really nice folks that work at AP Fairfax and the cars they sell are impressive. However, my customer service experience after purchase has been unexpectantly disappointing to say the least.

    Dealer Review:

I'll start this out by saying that I live in Richmond, VA. From my home, the dealership is 1.75 hours away. I called this morning to inquire about a 2002 Audi TT ALMS Edition, which I was told was still available. I talked with Jaime about how good the car looked, but how through VIN research and Carfax reports, I knew that the car had been listed at the previous dealership at $8,995. Not only that, but it'd been traded into a dealership in February of this year, and up until now had been bounced between dealerships. I also told him that the KBB trade value was between $3-5,000 depending on options and condition. If I was going to make the drive, I was going to expect to not be jerked around and drive the car home today. Jaime told me he talked to his manager, who I later found out was Christian Flores, and guaranteed the previous 8,995, plus their fees. He explained the fees and taxes, which basically came to $1,000. Basically it'd be sticker price. No problem. I got my ducks in a row with a loan and insurance quotes, took a half day from work, and started driving. The problems started when I arrived. The place is hard to find. Jaime, to his credit, did try to tell me how to find them, but it's a pretty weird situation if you're trying to let Google take the wheel. When I got there, I was warmly greeted by Jaime, keys ready, and I was shown how the butterfly doors worked (the dealership didn't do that; one of the previous owners did. The dealership did, however, put the black vinyl on. This is important for later). I got in the car and found the stereo set to its factory safe mode - it won't work without the code. Jaime didn't know the code. We searched the manual - nothing. Finally, I find online that there's a SN on the stereo that matches a code that you have to pay Audi about $100 to get. I tested the other electric equipment, which seemed ok, but then the driver-side window wouldn't roll up. I also noticed the LED panel was only 1/3 working, and there were gold thumbtacks all over the headliner holding it up. The mechanic fixed the window quickly and explained the clasp - if you push down, it comes undone (not his fault, but dumb). I started haggling with Christian since $9,995 is obviously not the correct price (the liner nor LED were featured in pictures on the site). He offered to drop to $9,000, so I consulted an Audi-loving friend who told me it'd be a no for her; bottom line, $8,000 max, all fees included, with a warranty of some kind on extra things breaking, since Christian wasn't willing to fix any of the problems if he gave any discounts at all. He said, "Look, you know what the price was before you drove up here, the car is 16 years old!" To which I replied, "But I didn't know about these problems or about this tone you're taking with me." He countered with $8,700, no warranty, and told me they'd added the vinyl decals and put some extra love into this car. At that point I wanted to know what they paid for it at auction, but he wouldn't answer, so I left. As I drove off, Christian called offering of $8,300, but the damage was done, and it wasn't what I deemed acceptable. For reference, this is the description of the vehicle listed on the dealership website: [html removed] "2002 AUDI TT AWD with powerful 1.8L DOHC SMPI 20-valve 225 HP I4 turbocharged engine and driven only 91061 miles! Audi Chantilly - Chantilly / Virginia

Located 23 miles away from Washington, DC

    Dealer Review:

I bought a used 2011 A4 at Chantilly. Lem was my salesman. Everybody was very kind to me (helped that my friend had bought his Audi there, I think) and despite it being a used car, I was treated very well. It was sold pretty much as is, but when I got it home it became apparent that the tire had a leak. I had to buy a new tire. I sent the bill to Lem, and they reimbursed me immediately. Very happy with them and I would recommend them.

ZGO TRIPIN
Gregory C!,03/23/2009
My son and I drove 260 miles to get this car new. Actually he drove 250 miles; I drove the last 10 miles. It was the exact color combo I was looking for, and I managed to drive it off the lot for less than a used one. I had been looking for months at convertibles that I could feel comfortable in and still have disposable monthly income left for savings and eventual retirement. I looked at the 2 pricey Porsche, the mild mannered miata, the 2 large Corvette and the Honda s2k my son's dream car, which he eventually bought. I believe I got the best of all four cars in my z: speed, luxury, great looks, reliability and affordability!I will be zgo tripin for years to come!
