Dealer Review:

Horrible experience. Strongly warn against trusting this company. I found a solid deal on their site for the exact car I was looking for, and was told it was "Shift Certified" by their 150 point in house inspection. Okay, so sounds like it's in great working shape. I drive an hour and a half to test drive the car, and the convertible top isn't working. I tell the salesman I would have bought the car on the spot, except a faulty convertible top could mean thousands in repairs. I tell them to please fix the convertible top and call me back as soon as its fixed. I don't get any calls. I call a few days later to check in, they say the techs are working on it. This morning, a few days later, I wake up and see a "sale pending" notification online for the car. I call Shift hoping it's some kind of mistake, and guess what... They fixed the convertible top yesterday, and never called me, emailed me, or texted me to let me know as I'd requested. And instead, they sold it to someone else. The hilarious thing? For all that F-, non personal, non thoughtful, dishonest service, they still charge a $1000 "dealer fee" with every sale – despite their 150 point inspection not being thorough enough to even catch a non working convertible top. Not only will I never be doing businesses with Shift again, but I will be warn every car buyer I know against them. If this is the future of car buying, the buyer is fully screwed.

Overall good experience. I didn't anticipate buying the car on that day but the deal was great and ended up with a great warranty on top. I'd say the buying process was fluid and I was able to easily trade-in my old car which albeit wasn't in the best condition but I'd have like to have gotten more. Neither here nor there. Good people work here and I'm happy with my purchase but I will say that I would've liked a little less pressure. Classic salesperson approach it seemed and I supposed that's what get the deal.

So impressed. Karo my sales person knew more about the RAV4 I test drive with him than the Toyota sales guy did with the other car I drove - Karo is a Mercedes sales rep... When I decided to buy the car I called to from wrapping up another test drive. We did the deal on the phone. Karo sent me all the docs I needed right away, and arranged to come in on his day off to finalize the sale. When I was wrapping up the paperwork I was in before the finance team, so the finance director took car of me. As I was leaving, the manager asked if I had a good experience. The whole Calstar team is really excellent. I had people approach me to make sure I had what I needed (I was in the lounge waiting for paperwork) and each time I walked in someone would say “oh, I’ll get Karo”. I will check with Calstar first for all my future car needs.

They advertise a car nationwide and will not sell it to anybody out of California. I never heard of such a thing and it seems ridiculous. You have to come in person to pick the car up and cannot have it picked up by a shipping company even if you pay by money wire.

I found a car that I like on cafax. I sent a request, promptly sales representative texted me then we arranged an appointment, but on that morning I texted him saying appointment is cancelled, then in the afternoon I texted him back I would like to come now, hr confirmed with me it's OK and currently available, I told him at least more than 30mins and over 40miles away. When I came to the dealership, he came out, he couldn't see me and introduced his partner to me(in my mind if you are so busy then we can do an other day, I'm so disappointed when he treated me like this, I got no choice, Because I am here already) After testing the car, I told his partner I would make a deal by trading in my car, I didn't know what they did, let me wait for a long time, then his partner wrote on a piece of paper with the amount of my trade-in, no proposal work done, very unprofessional. I told his partner I need to go, e-mail me the figure. I waited till next morning, still no email coming, made a call to his partner he told me 2k more no other word. I received email from sale rep. With the proposal work, but the sale price been raised up. I talked to him it wasn't like that, he reversed back to the old price,then told me the price would be going up after. I called the sale rep. next day he didn't answer, called his cell phone, didn't answer, then I texted him I was willing to deal and make it work. He would not to by giving out a lot of reasons. All right now the dealership bought it back with the higher price. You should not do that to threat the customer like this.
