The Underrated and Irreplaceable R-Class

2012 Mercedes-Benz R-Class
If you owned a fully optioned 2011-12 R350 diesel that was experty and maticulously maintained throughout its life then you know that this vehicle, in all of the categories that mattered for its time (e.g., space, luxury, options, comfort, safety, mileage, towing, and touring) had few equals. However, for many (beyond the 1st owners) who have had subpar technicians and costly repairs … coupled with hopes for a low maintenance vehicle, the R was a disappointing misadventure. The result has been mixed to low ratings. Yet, for those with well maintained Rs (which was no small feat due to a lack of master mechanics both within and outside of MB dealerships), these vehicle are irreplaceable. In summary, the R-class was a missed opportunity, from promotion to sales, service, and customer care, it stands as one of the most mismanaged Mercedes by Mercedes in modern times.
