2023 Lexus RX 350h
Some well known publications rate the 350 lower than german competitors in the luxury SUV segment, and to some extent I understand why. The engine hybrid is not as refined or powerful as some of the competition. I test drove many different makes, and agree that there are more fun powertrains with a stiffer ride. And if that's what you're looking for I suggest getting a german car, … that's not what this RX350 is about. What you get is a top notch interior, a soft comfy ride and nearly silent in the cabin. Sure the engine is a bit rough under high acceleration, but that is a price I am more than willing to pay for the outstanding gas mileage and ability to use regular instead of premium fuel. The 350h doesn't have quite as much horsepower, but it still has plenty for daily driving. I wanted a midsize SUV that will be used daily as a comfortable and quiet family hauler, not something to eat twisty roads. Every time I use the car I appreciate 38 miles per gallon and legendary reliability, and I value those things more than a slight bump in performance which I would appreciate on occasion. Considering it has best in class fuel economy, one of the better interiors in its class, Toyota/Lexus reliability, and an outstanding residual value, the 350h is a compelling choice.
I will also say that a lot of the reviews I read on the 2023 redesign had complaints about the overly invasive safety systems must have been addressed. My car is still somewhat of a nanny, but it doesn't seem nearly as bad as what was described in the reviews I read.
