I was searching for a Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid for a few weeks via the Toyota website and Cars Guru. Initially, I had found the perfect car, with all the bells and whistles I was looking for at Cerritos Toyota, but shortly after I inquired about the car, it was marked as sold. I was so frustrated and really starting to think I would never find the car I was looking for. Fortunately, Angel Flores-Delgado from Cerritos Toyota reached out to me via email asking if I was still interested in the car! By this point I was hopeless he would never find the car, given my experiences up to that point, but I thoroughly explained exactly what I was looking for. I had saved up for quite a while and was not getting something that I sort of liked. He said they would keep me posted – and he did! He texted me and told me that my car, exactly as I wanted, was coming in. We started the purchasing process and I just waited for the car to come in. I did have some questions about changing things out, and Angel and his sales manager Rudy were very helpful and informative. The only snag was that the car was delayed, so I was waiting everyday for the car to arrive and at the last minute, I got a text from Angel saying the car had come in. I was there within 2 hours, yes, I had to wheel and deal a bit with the Sales Manager to make sure that I was getting the best bang for my buck (I also was trading in a pretty nice car and wanted to ensure I got fair pricing). Angel was so patient; he was going back and forth and really trying to get me everything that I asked for – and he did!! Angel gave me a rundown on how the car worked, was so nice, so supportive and really made me feel like this was a good purchase (I was a bit anxious because it was a big purchase). Jesus the finance manager was great! He was able to get me the best APR (lower than my bank) and worked out some additional incentives. Angel ensured that he got me the promised features such as my all-weather cargo mats. I can honestly say, this was a real team effort. Angel even emailed me afterwards to make sure to make himself available to answer any additional questions I have about the car (which I do). I’ve read negative reviews of AutoNation Toyota Cerritos, but I can honestly say that was not my experience and I highly recommend Angel (my sales rep) specifically at AutoNation.

BEWARE!!! CARMAX TOOK MY CAR ON A TEST DRIVE AND BROUGHT IT BACK BROKEN!!! They caused $1102.00 worth of damage and REFUSED to pay for it. The car was in their possession, they damaged it. Their employee was driving it when it occurred. They are negligent. BEWARE OF CARMAX! I am a HUGE car nut. Cars are my passion. I am also a previous client of Carmax's having bought a car from them a few years back. I maintain and baby all of my cars to a point that most people who know me, make jokes about it. That said, I took my car in for a simple appraisal at CARMAX. The guy at CARMAX, Joseph, said he needed to take my car on a test drive. That he needed to see the vehicle get to 30 mph and he wouldn't be going over that. I said sure, go ahead. This car is maintained meticulously. I just had it at the BMW dealership for a brake flush service. Joseph takes my car, he's gone for about 15-20 minutes. First off, that's too long for a quick appraisal drive. He comes back and I see him hurriedly walk up to another man behind the counter (Marq). They both take turns looking at me and looking back at my car. It was very unnerving. It was clear something was not right. Joseph walks back outside and I follow him. When I get outside and asked him if everything was ok. He seems really strange and in a hurry. He says everything went fine and I'd get my appraisal by email and he begins to walk back inside. I stopped him and asked why he'd rushed in to speak with the man behind the counter. I told him something didn't seem right and that their conversation seemed concerning. It was ONLY at that point he said to me "Oh, your check engine light came on in your car." I was totally thrown off by this as my car is in perfect shape and has never had any sort of issue. It's meticulously maintained. I asked Joseph what happened and he did not give me any answer. He simply said I don't know. The light just came on. I didn't even get a chance to ask another question, he got defensive and said he was going to get his manager. Joseph from Carmax got in my car and it was working beautifully, he brought it back and now it's very, very broken. The car while in park was revving high. It's going back and forth without any pressure to the throttle. I have no idea what he did and he is not being forthcoming at all. The manager, Marq, comes out (same guy he had rushed in to speak with) and just tells me he can't help me, "this happens." I can't tell you how upsetting that was. I immediately take the car to the BMW dealership, it will barely drive. It's a total mess. BMW tells me it's a blown charger pipe. It's going to be $1102.00 to repair it. I reached out to Carmax, I send emails to the CEO and the entire C-Suite of Carmax. I got a response from a guy named Steve from the Executive Response Team. He says he's going to help, he calls BMW talks to the Service Advisor. He calls me back and says that Carmax won't cover the cost of the repair. He said that the service advisor told him it could not be determined because they were not there. The next day I pick up my car and have a conversation with the Service advisor who tells me about the call she had with Steve from Carmax. The advisor proceeded to tell me that it was truly one of the most uncomfortable conversations she'd had with another dealership and that she felt like Steve from Carmax was trying to pressure her into saying something that she couldn't say. This seems very much in line with the behavior I witnessed firsthand by Joseph & Marq at Carmax. I reached out once again to Carmax and this time it's a guy named William from the Executive Response Team. He comes across as though he is here to help and find a solution. He does nothing and calls a day later to tell me after "his investigation" Carmax won't cover the cost of repairs. I reached out to them several times, I gave them several opportunities to simply DO THE RIGHT THING. They refused at every turn. CARMAX TOOK MY CAR ON A TEST DRIVE AND BROUGHT IT BACK BROKEN!!! I was extremely interested in the vehicle listed and made a reasonable offer (that was accepted after a couple days of waiting). I said I was prepared to fly out as soon as they got me the basic info (the warranty information and either a full video or photos). At the time they only had a “coming soon” picture on the site and no warranty information. From the start, I let them know that I only had the weekend to get this done. I’m a single parent and my dad is in hospice. I’m taking care of him and trying to run a business. On several occasions the sales person said he’d “call me right back” then I would wait hours. Most the time it would happen the next day. There was no rush at all despite my request to “please just let me know if they could do the deal or not so that I could fly out there right away.” Several times the sales person wanted me to give a deposit and fill out a credit application. That was his priority rather than just answering the question about the warranty and sending the video. They wanted the money but they did not want to do the BASIC things NEEDED for a person to feel comfortable making a purchase. When I finally got the video, it was only of the lower part of the car. It was basically from just above the tire level down and then a quick picture of the front seats. When I tried to close the deal Sunday morning and get an answer on the offer as well as provide another request for the warranty information and the full video, Jake told me he’d “call me right back”. of course, I never got a call back that day. Keep in mind that I need it to fly out there immediately. I got a call on Monday. Ten, I moved three meetings and told him that I could come on Wednesday, if everything was ready by Tuesday. Jake told me he could process my credit application Tuesday night and knew I could not get it to him until the late afternoon. I did not hear from him Tuesday night. These are not difficult things to produce. The car was on the lot. On Tuesday, the sales person walked into someone’s office (while I was on the phone) to ask the question about the warranty and they were able to answer it on the spot. Why that took five days, I’ll never know. Wednesday morning I had to call the whole thing off because I did not have the flight scheduled as I did not have the credit application processed as Jake said I would Tuesday night. I have a credit score of 800+. None of this should’ve been hard. An entry-level sales person would’ve done a much better job. In the end, I even tried to make it work by getting estimates from 15 different car shipping companies. However, I really did prefer to test drive the car before I paid $52,000 for it. The car is still for sale! I’ve never had to work this hard to give someone $52,000. I called the dealership and waited on hold to talk to the manager, Jaime, for about 5 minutes and then was disconnected. I called again and left a voicemail on his direct line and did not receive a call back.
