Competing with Luxury Brands

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L
The Jeep Grand Cherokee L is a luxurious, stylish, and practical SUV featuring third row seating and a more practical size than some of the larger Full Size SUVs like the Ford Expedition, Chevrolet Tahoe, or GMC Yukon. On the market today, it's direct competitor is the KIA Telluride. Having ridden in both and now owning a 2021 Grand Cherokee L Summit, it must be said that the Jeep … prevails in both value and build quality. Nappa leather seats are durable, the seats are more comfortable, and there are far finer details in the interior and exterior trim that make the Grand Cherokee L stand out above competing vehicles. The acceleration with the V6 engine is satisfactory, but I can't imagine getting anywhere too quickly. The best comparison would be every so slightly more peppy than the late model Toyota 4Runner V6, which if you've ever driven one they tend to be enough for practicality but nothing to write home about. The features in the Summit model are impressive. The massaging seats are life-changing. They are less aggressive than a standalone massage chair, but enough to feel while keep you focused on the road. The Alpine 9-speaker sound system with a subwoofer is more than enough for any car audio enthusiast. The sunroof lets in a lot of light and is impressively large. Other great features include park assist for both parallel and normal parking spaces, lane assist, adaptive cruise control, front and rear cameras with washers, 360 overhead camera views, Wifi hotspot through AT&T, Adjustable Air Bag Suspension, Apply Carplay, Heated steering wheel, ventilated and heated seats, power tailgate, power folding third row seats, heated and cooled captain's chairs in the second row with an optional bench seat for total seating of 7 passengers, wireless charging pad, ambient lighting around the trim and footwells, automatic adjusting high beams, and one-touch windows for the front and rear. Not to mention, the Jeep comes off-road ready and has options like locking differentials and hill descent control for the rugged side. Any other full size SUV from an American car manufacturer could not create this masterpiece with all of these features around the $60,000 price point for the fully loaded version.
I did notice one small inconvenience. European auto manufacturers do a wonderful job with their heated and ventilated seats; and also their climate control. In our 2015 Audi A6, the Air Conditioning is almost instant, it takes about 60 seconds to start feeling Ice cold air in the summer time. The vents in the 2021 Grand Cherokee L are very stylish, but they do not push out as much air and take slightly longer to cool the car down. This could be the larger cabin compared to a sedan, or a combination of both factors. The ventilated seats also are a bit more mild than European competitors, but they still function well and serve their purpose. Disclaimer on this, we are still racking up our first 1,000 miles on the car. Key takeaway, the Jeep is probably the best option for the value, although there are still a few small details that true luxury brands have perfected over time that Jeep could potentially perfect.
