2026 INEOS Grenadier
I’m a gear head and read/watched everything before I recently bought my 26 Grenadier. I conclude they don’t get a fair shake, and it has exceeded my expectations in every way. The same people who got LR to dumb down the Defender just don’t get it. The steering, stereo, and AC are just fine. The ride and drive characteristics are much better than a Wrangler and Land Cruiser, though … not as smooth as the unibody Defender. It has moxie beyond compare. After a few hundred very happy mixed highway and back road miles, we went off road/over sand this past weekend, and it was our best off road day ever. Off-road mode turns off the few electronic Nannie’s, and we had a blast with controlled sliding and spitting plumes of sand w/o nagging electronics getting in the way, and knowing that if we misjudged there was center lock, rear lock, front lock, and low range to save the day. Not to mention that a simple tap on the sheetmetal or glance at the frame says this beast is built tougher than anything out there, including the G-wagen, and I have never run across anyone other than a professional reviewer crazy enough to actually off-road that $200k+ gem. Magna-Steyr, BMW, ZF, Tremech, Brembo, Recaro, Bilstein, Eibach … Ineos sourced the best components globally (mostly German) implanted them into a British design and created a legend. While the tech is simple, the UI is great, and the Apple CarPlay integration is the best among my cars, including Porsche and Bentley. The logical simplicity is very refreshing. And when the day was done we just shook out the rubber mats and hosed her down - ez breezy. Same applies if the dog is a mess or has a little pukey as they tend to. A fine daily driver and great fun off-road. Defender is a soccer mom sell out and the drive train on the new Land Cruiser is very very disappointing for Toyota. Sienna minivan is much better - how can that be? And PS, my wife loves the Grenadier too. Well done Ineos!
