Dealer had agreed to sell me an Accord Hybrid at an excellent price thanks to my company discount. We had agreed to a time to meet to sign the paperwork and to put down a deposit until the car had arrived from transit. As I'm getting ready to head over, I get a car from the dealership that the car had not only arrived earlier in the day, they sold it to someone else before I could even get over there. I get the sense of urgency and likely the fact that this other customer had agreed to pay more, but this was so stupid and short sighted. The 2024's are coming in soon and I'm sure you could have another Accord shipped to the dealership to meet this customer's demands. Instead, you decide to piss off a sure thing and ensure I will not only never return to this dealership again, but write a review to let people know how unprofessional these people are. So instead of 2 happy customers, you have 1. Doesn't take a genius to know this is bad business. I wasted an entire week speaking to this dealer and turning down other offers to purchase this car, and now my process essentially has to start over. If you love [non-permissible content removed], lying car dealers, look no further than the folks at Honda DTLA.

Dealer Review:

They do everything they can to lure you in, they tell you they cannot sell to you because you're out of state. They won't take cash. I was willing to buy the car sight unseen and have it shipped and then these red flags started popping up. Never deal with a company like this, go to a real reputable dealer. If I could give Southern California Preowned negative 5 stars I would. Will never recommend nor will I ever buy a car from this place, we had a horrendous experience with them. Very distrusting dealership, uses bait and switch tactics, advertisement says no hidden dealer fees so they add those fees to the cost of the vehicle as accessories, but they won’t tell you or give you an itemized list of what those accessories are. If you still decide to buy from them after reading our story, be very wary and make sure you really look at what they are charging you for. Believe me there are better places to buy a used car from. These guys seriously give used car dealers a very bad reputation. My son and I found a listing on CarGurus for 2017 Honda Civic, 88,385 miles, $14,950. Contacted dealer on Sunday to make sure the vehicle was there so we could come and see it. Called them again on Feb. 14th, to let them know we were coming. We were greeted by Ronaldo who went to pull the car out so we could test drive. Car looked good and drove well. We talked about the price, tried to see if they would come down a little in the price. Ronaldo explained that the price was $14,950 and that it was a great deal because it was a couple thousand below market price. We explained that my son was getting the loan through our credit union and he just needed the co-signer to sign paperwork, but we would be back the next day. Next day we found out from credit union that we needed a purchase order from the dealer since my son had a down payment, so my son went back with the co-signer to get the purchase order from the dealership. They called before to let the dealer know they were coming and what they needed. When they got there Ronaldo was nowhere to be seen and Carlo proceeded to step in. Carlo ran a credit check for no reason on the co-signer, even though they had already explained before, that they only needed a purchase order. He then brought them a piece of paper that had the payment amounts and how many payments there would be. Carlo was trying to finance the car with whatever bank they work with. They explained again that the loan was already approved with our credit union and there was no need for a credit check and that all they needed was a purchase order for our credit union. When Carlo finally brought out the purchase order they had added $3,000 to the price of the vehicle for added accessories. When questioned about what these accessories were, Carlo kept switching the subject and ignoring my son and his co-signer. He basically did this with every question they asked. He finally admitted that this $3,000 included what they paid to have the car delivered to their lot from where ever they purchased the vehicle. We said that we were not paying the extra $3,000 for delivery/accessories or whatever it was for, but that we were still willing to buy the vehicle if they would honor the price they advertised the vehicle for and that Ronaldo had said it would be, $14,950 plus tax, license and registration fees. Carlo kept saying that they couldn’t, he kept checking with the mystery person behind closed doors, and he just kept saying they could not do that. After much going back and forth, and realizing they were not going to honor their original price, my son and his co-signer walked away. Ronaldo called the next day surprised that we didn’t buy the car, my son explained what happened. He said he would see what he could do and call my son back, to this day we have not heard a peep from them.

READ THIS BEFORE YOU VISIT CULVER CITY TOYOTA... I saw a used 2014 Prius 3 with low mileage listed at $18,999 online, and that is the end of the positive things I have to say about this dealership. K'Lee (sales), Ronnie (supervisor), and whoever the assistant GM is, all went well beyond a stereotypical car salesperson level of dishonesty. The biggest lie that they gave me had to do with the "mandatory" addition of TheftPatrol to my car purchase. They said that this is standard Covid era practice at dealerships (lie) and that they can't remove it regardless of the fact that I REPEATEDLY told them I don't want that extra product and service (also a lie). TheftPatrol is a $40 GPS that they slap on your car like LoJack. If your car is stolen within 5 years, TheftPatrol will give you $3000 and your dealership $2000 as though that is some how an acceptable reimbursement. Culver City Toyota charged me $1000 for this service. Again, I expressed repeatedly that I do not want this extra feature, and the told me repeatedly that this is a non-negotiable feature that every dealership has. I just called a bunch of other Toyota dealers in the LA area, and none of them force customers to take an overpriced gps service. Hollywood, Downtown, Hamer, Keyes, Carson, and Glendale all confirmed that theft prevention is OPTIONAL. After those six Toyota salespeople all told me that they don't force a theft prevention service on their customers, I stopped calling other dealers because I accepted that I waisted $1000 by making the mistake of choosing Culver City Toyota. The assistant GM finally admitted (after the sale) that this is something they do at Culver City to make up for low recent sales. Bonus lies: 1. I was told before I signed anything that I would be allowed to have the car inspected by an independent mechanic. I was not told until I had already paid for the car that I would have to give the dealership $250 just to have someone else look at it. The independent inspection was only $50 2. When said independent mechanic looked at the car I bought, he said the tires needed to be rotated and there was only 15% of tread remaining of the back break pads. Culver City Toyota said they don't sell used cars with less than 50% of the tread, which is a very dangerous lie. 3. When purchasing, I asked if I could come back the next day to pick up the car that I was about to purchase so I had time to go home and make sure I have everything removed from the car I'd be trading in. K'Lee and Ronnie both gave me a bunch of BS about how fast they sell used cars and did not give me the option to take my previous car home and leave the new car at the dealer overnight. By the time I finally got done with a very pushy and long winded finance guy, it was completely dark out. Maybe I got everything from my old car? Maybe not? They don't care. 4. THEY posted the price of $18,999 online. Then they apparently forgot they did that, because they tried to add an extra $1,500 to price of the car before taxes and fees. They acted like they were giving me a deal when they bumped it back down to the price they posted online. When I reminded them that they were the ones who posted that price, they told me that they purposely mark up the price on the lot in case someone happened to not see it online. Seems like a weird strategy to brag about taking advantage of people, but I'm not in sales so I wouldn't know. I'm genuinely a fan of Toyotas, but I'm not especially into lying salespeople. I believed them when they said I needed a $1000 theft prevention that doesn't even cover 1/4 of the price of the car, and that was my fault because I didn't assume they were lying and I didn't check with other dealerships about that very dumb policy.
