Dealer Review:

Supposedly, this dealership has a “required” add-on called “Shottenkirk Care”. It added an additional cost of $3000 to the price of the car. I was not about to pay for that. Also, they added $899 for lifetime tint. Really? Also, there was a Dealer Reconditioning Fee of $1899. Unbelievable. Those additional fees increased the price of the vehicle to almost $6000. Actually, the cost of these add-ons would be more than $6000 once you add the interest being charged on the loan. Who do they think I am? I don’t have the word fool written across my forehead. How are you going to “require” me to add those fees to the price of the vehicle? Why would anyone purchase a vehicle from this dealership that has all those so-called “required” fees added to the cost of the loan? It’s just ridiculous. As my dad would say, “That don’t even make good nonsense.” That was just the Basic Package, there are two additional package levels that include these fees along with other stuff like nitrogen for your tires, and other ridiculous fees. I told them that my credit union has already approved me for financing and that I will just finance the car through my credit union and not be “required” to add those junk fees to the cost of the vehicle. The finance manager told me they don’t like to take outside financing. Well, it’s their loss, because I’m moving on. I've come to the conclusion the reason they don't like to take outside financing is that the credit union is not going to allow all those junk fees in the loan contract. If I were a salesperson, sales manager, finance manager, or any other employee that deals with customers during the sales process, there is no way that I could work at this dealership and take advantage of people in this way. It is just unethical. They know those overpriced junk fees add little to no value to the vehicle. This was the worst experience I have ever had trying to purchase a car. I’m done with this dealership and its unethical practices. I will be sure to let my friends and Sorors in Katy and Richmond (and of course Houston) know about my experience at Shottenkirk Nissan Katy. I will advise them to steer away from this car dealer. I really like that Nissan Altima at Shottenkirk Nissan Katy, however, I’m just going to buy a car elsewhere. I’m not going back out there. Please, if you are intent on purchasing a vehicle from this dealership, READ your documents. Do not sign anything without reading it first. Also, turn every document over to be sure there is nothing written on the back of it. Agree on the price of the vehicle first. Know what interest rate you are being charged. Ask to see the out-the-door price with everything itemized. Don’t fall for the monthly payment trap. Don’t pay unnecessary fees. Don’t get so excited about purchasing a vehicle that you allow them to take advantage of you. You can always take your business somewhere else. I wrote this review because I wanted to give others insight into the practices of this car dealer. Do business with Shottenkirk Nissan Katy at your own risk. I will be filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.
