2020 Ford Explorer
My new 2020 Ford Explorer Platinum has MANY nice upgrades over my 2017 Ford Explorer Platinum. They got rid of the irritants in the old model (like the foot parking brake where if you don’t press it fully and try to push it further caused it to release). The headlights are AMAZING. Finally enough light on dark roads. This is absolutely outstanding! Better visibility on low or high beams … than any vehicle I’ve ever been in.
Another nice thing is the trailer hitch without the annoying cover. Always a pain getting that off.
The big display is nice if you are in native mode but Apple CarPlay splits the screen only using the top half for Waze, kind of inefficient.
New annoyances include:
1) auto stops sometimes as I’m going out of the garage. I guess it is their anti crash setting but it is quite unsettling.
2) Doesn’t seem to be a way to engage lane centering unless you are using cruise control. Old one had the assist to always help out.
3) I’ve triggered the foot open back gate MANY times by accident and with stuff on roof racks - is incredibly annoying - and I don’t see a way to turn that off.
Overall a good vehicle. I’m pleased with it.
