I bought the van in May, 2021 in Denver Colorado with 147,000 miles for $800.00. Within a few weeks I discovered it needed the front CV axles replaced. I paid a buddy of mine to replace the CV axles, upper Ball Joints, Outer Tie Rod ends and sway bar links. I then took it in and had a front end alignment done on the vehicle. Since then, I have only had to replace the serpentine belt and … nothing else. It now has 157,000 miles on it and it runs and drives like a top (knock on wood) . I drove it from Boulder Colorado to Iron Mountain Michigan in the autumn of 2021 and it made the trip flawlessly. The 4X4 performs flawlessly in the snow, mud and sand and also driving at 80-90MPH down the bare and dry highways/interstates also.It starts right up regardless of the outside temperature and gets decent gas mileage for the size and age of the vehicle (15-17 MPG in the city) (20-23 MPG Highway) and is extremely reliable and dependable and has never left me stranded . I plan on running this van into the ground until the tires fall off. Overall this old Aerostar ( 28 years old) is one of the most reliable vehicles I’ve ever owned and is better in the deep snow/poor road conditions then most 4x4 pick up trucks I’ve ever driven/owned . I HIGHLY recommend a Ford Aerostar to anybody that is searching for a budget friendly , very reliable vehicle , if at all possible.
