    Dealer Review:

The short version of what started with a Friday (4/19) night inquiry on a No Brainer Price quote is this: Saturday (4/21): unpleasant leery stare-down with Suresh Gursahani as I entered the building with my daughter; he had no social graces and it wasn't until he asked me, "Are you here to buy a car?" that he tried turning on the salesman charm; my Friday inquiry was answered by Omid Ahmad, so I asked for him as Omid had requested, but he was 20 minutes late (probably because nobody paged him) and then he didn't budget when we started to talk shop; I left as he worked on the quote and told him I'd return on Sunday morning Sunday (4/22): true to my word, I returned with a male friend and we were promptly greeted by Seyed Vahid Hashimi; slick salesman and fast talker and oh-so-charming (spoiler alert: zero integrity); Vahid calls David Rubenstein the sales manager when it's time to discuss dollars; David (like Suresh) asks me, "Are you here to buy a car today?" and I reply, "That depends on my experience today" and share the unpleasantness of Suresh the prior day (as well as Sunday again when out with Vahid in the lot); ultimately, David works a deal that I can accept and I get to wait for Howard Robertson, an impatient finance manager who asks me, "Aren't we here to sign paperwork?" when I ask him if now's the time to clarify some questions; not impressed with Howard but I'm almost done with these people, the papers are signed, and David and Vahid together assure me they'll take care of XYZ for me Monday (4/23): I show up to pick up the car as I'd previously informed Vahid on Sunday night and to which he confirmed, but am greeted by a half-assed non-attempt to fulfill the commitment David and Vahid had claimed they would; Vahid claims I'm wrong, he alleges it's a misunderstanding, and he waves his hand and says, "No worries, we'll take care of it" and calls David to clarify; I don't know what game these fine men are playing, but they have no principles or substance; I drive off, Vahid promptly emails a "sorry" and assures me he'll handle it, to which I reply very frankly that I don't know if I'm going to bother with this deal after all Tuesday (4/24): my boyfriend calls Vahid and Vahid lies to my boyfriend about the circumstances of the "misunderstanding" on Monday; I'm livid and think David and Vahid are dishonest men who, even after a deal is made, still try to cheat the consumer; I didn't demand anything on Monday that hadn't been agreed upon and shaken upon on Sunday when sealing the deal; the minimum expectation was for the arrangements to be completed as stated and "promised" Wednesday (4/25): I leave a voicemail for David that I'll be in shortly to discuss the circumstances that prevented me from picking up the car on Monday. At 9:10 a.m., I'm at the dealership and Louis Supan and Keith Bettencourt are the chosen ones to face my F-bomb-laced wrath. Keith, to his credit, does epic damage control but how am I to know he's not in on the facade (and I tell him so)? By 11:00 a.m., my car is dropped off as agreed upon with a bottle of coolant thrown in for the inconvenience-- note that I demanded this because, well, should it really take this long to retrieve a purchase from Sunday? I also have until 4/30 to return the car for a full refund-- again, this is my mandate. Sounds like a resolution has been reached, right? Nope, because... Thursday (4/26): Today, on my 20-mile drive to work, my low tire pressure indicator turns on. The unknown is if the four relatively new tires-- so new that you can see the nubs on the treads and so new that even the lines on the tires are still visible-- are suffering from low tire pressure, or if the TPMS sensor is defective. I call Keith's number, a receptionist answers, he's not in, and neither are David nor Vahid (thank God because I genuinely do not want to deal with them). I remind the receptionist I'm the customer who raised hell yesterday morning, that my indicator light has come on, that I'm concerned because the tires are fairly new, and that I need to speak with Keith. She took my cell phone. Twenty minutes later, I try to start my car because I need to be elsewhere for a meeting-- my car won't recognize R, D, or B gears. It only stays in P or detects N gear. This is a problem. I call the dealership again, tell the lady again that I have a worse update, she transfers me to Peter Ong (sales) who tells me, "Oh you know, this happened to me before, too, it's not mechanical or major, it's just..." I'm not sure I can believe this, my colleague overheard and says this can't be true, we go to the car together in the lot and Keith calls me promptly on my cell to lend support. As of now (11:52 a.m.), I have missed my meeting and my work performance is compromised due to this car issue; and as of now, I am waiting for Castillo and possibly Nick Collins to come with a loaner car, to check my car, and to take my car for servicing. Again, I paid for this car and signed paperwork on Sunday. On Wednesday, when it was delivered, I would imagine a complete inspection and service had been conducted. On Thursday morning, the TPMS indicator warning comes on, and then by Thursday mid-morning, I can't change gears beyond N or P. The check battery indicator light was on, too, and I am mistrustful of the quality and integrity of this dealership.
