Elk Grove Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram FIAT - Elk Grove / California

Located 12.6 miles away from Sacramento, CA

Dealer review:

I recently purchased a Jeep at Elk Grove Dodge. I told the sales representative and the employee going over finance terms with me that I had pre approval from Capital One, and I thought I would get an interest rate of 2.49%. Both the sales rep and finance person left me for a period, and when they came back they said I would get an interest rate in excess of 4%. I expressed surprise and again said I had prior approval from Capital One and expected a lower rate. They again left me for quite sometime, and when they returned they said that because of a change in the length of the loan, I would get an interest rate of 3.18%. The contract was then written up at the 3.18%. The next day I called Capital One and told them I was surprised that I had not gotten an interest rate of 2.49%. They said that they quoted 2.49% to Elk Grove Dodge, regardless of whether I financed for 60 months or 72 months. I attempted to call the Elk Grove employee (Susan) that handled the closing paperwork and was tramsferred to her voice mail. I left the information I received from Capital One and waited all day for a call back. Around 4PM I called again and said if Susan was not available I would like to talk to her manager. The receptionist told me that she did not have a manager. I then asked to speak to any manager and was told by the receptionist that no manager was available. Around 7PM that evening I received a call from Susan and again went over the information I receved from Capital One. She said that I could return to the dealer and they would rewrite the contract, which I subsequently did. I asked Susan why they would have lied to me about the interest rate, but did not receive any answer.

Dealer review:

I had a very positive experience buying my car here. The sales associate we worked with (online and in person) was very helpful, thorough and friendly. The price was agreed upon before I went into the dealership and I knew they had the car I wanted. The trade-in and all other paperwork went smoothly.

Gold Rush Chevrolet - Auburn / California

Located 31.4 miles away from Sacramento, CA

Dealer review:

I want to HIGHLY Recommend Gold Rush Chevrolet, specifically “DJ” in Sales, Allen, Sales Manager, and Karen, Finance Manager. I just completed my first NEW Car Purchase in over 15 years and now have a brand new high end, knocked out 2017 Chevy Colorado Truck in my Little Garage. I spent several months reading Consumer Reports and other car reviews. I looked at ALL of small SUVs and Crossovers. Nothing really ‘thrilled me’ until I drove a GMC Canyon. Since the Canyon and Chevy Colorado are comparable, I looked at both. I met the Costco Sales Program person at the GMC in Roseville. No luck there. The GMC and Chevy Dealers in Folsom? No luck there either and it was an unpleasant experience too, I smiled and left after the salesperson pointed his finger at you saying “You don’t understand, you NEED to buy XXXX. Then on Saturday, I located a matching Chevy Colorado at Gold Rush Chevy online. Since I had not yet driven the Colorado (but had driven its sister the Canyon) I sent “DJ” a email through the Edmunds car contact form and let him know I wanted to compare the two. He promptly called me back and we met for the first time Monday 4/17. From meeting “DJ” for the first time, multiple test drives, breaks to accommodate my needs to slow down and ‘think about it’ for a day or two even tweaking the purchase contact at the last minute because I changed my mind - EVERYONE I mean EVERYONE was accommodating, thoughtful, professional and pleasant. I can honestly say this was the BEST NEW CAR NO PRESSURE Buying Experience of my LIFE. It was not at all what I had experienced in my local shopping. The best part? They sold me the car of my dreams at a net PRICE that beat anything comparable, and the Costco Auto Buyer and Edmunds Auto Buyer program and TRUE Car Buying Program. I’m not talking payments (though they did a great job on that too!) I am taking the real PRICE. WOW. I am taking my new truck to them on Monday to leave it for the night to have the spray on bed liner put in. And I am still debating about purchasing the extended warranty but they did not pressure me about that either – just helped me and gave me info to ponder. In closing, I feel that I chose the right dealer for the right reasons for this purchase. I will recommend these folks to my friends and family. And if their service department proves as great as their sales department, they have this business going forward too. Do yourself a HUGE Favor, take the nice drive up to Auburn and include this dealership on your ‘car’ shopping list. You will be so glad you did!

Maita Subaru - Sacramento / California

Located 5.7 miles away from Sacramento, CA

Dealer review:

I visited Maita Subaru on Aug 13. This dealership has a car similar to one I was checking out at another store, a Forester, so I thought I would expand my options. My initial impression wasn’t bad because the sales people were at the front door ready to greet people. We arrived shortly after opening so it wasn’t busy yet and we wanted to move along quickly. We were directed to work with Sheldon Haynie, and we had a terrible experience. Here's why: 1) Sheldon did not want to accept the way we wanted to finance our car even though our preferred method is acceptable. He was extremely pushy in having us finance through Chase or through the dealership to our credit union. My partner and I made it clear that we planned to pick up a check to pay for the car multiple times. After I repeatedly told him no, he proceeded to explain the same exact thing to my partner who also told him no. After we both said no, he asked the same question in a different way. There was a point in this process where it felt like he was trying to turn my partner and I against each other. 2) When we arrived around 9:15 AM, I asked if my car could get appraised because that would factor into our decision. Sheldon pushed off the appraisal because he wanted us to get into cars to test drive. I asked several times but he kept pushing it off. By 11 AM, we had to leave because we needed to run an errand downtown before 12. By this time we had test driven two cars but mostly spent time waiting in the office for answers to questions. 3) It took a very long time for basic things to happen. At first we were patient. It took nearly 30 minutes for Sheldon to fetch the car we were interested in from their sister dealership down the street. Soon we saw it was a trend though. It appears sales people can't provide answers to questions without consulting the store manager. Whenever we had a question, we waited a minimum of 15-20 minutes for answers. Considering we were the only customers in the store, this seems like an extreme waiting period. When we returned from our errand around 12:15/12:30, the appraisal was just finishing up. We spent another 3 hours at this dealership trying to get clear answers to our questions which was impossible. 4) The two cars we were comparing were very similar so we said we would go with the one that could provide the better price. Apparently I do not have the same understanding as “out the door” price. Sheldon included our down payment in the “out the door” price. My understanding is “out the door” is what I am responsible for paying. It felt like a sneaky way to trick people that don't look at a price closely enough. There was also nearly $400 in general fees that Sheldon described as “DVM fees” but would not break them down. This is in addition to taxes. The pricing felt ambiguous. 5) We took a walk and decided we didn’t feel comfortable with a dealership that was trying to strong arm us into paying a price with sneaky fees and salesmen that appear to operate without ethics and consideration for the customers. When we told them that we were not going to proceed with the purchase, they scrambled to keep our business and suggested a new car instead. A new car was never in our budget, and that was something we had communicated early on in our visit. The dealership is unable to accept “no” as an answer. Early on and throughout my visit, I made it clear that I did not want to participate in receiving their marketing emails, yet I have received several emails from Sheldon over the past nearly two weeks. I asked Sheldon 3 times and the store manager once to stop contacting me. It wasn’t until I told Sheldon that I felt harassed that he responded to my request. In person, Sheldon promised that he would not add me to marketing emails yet he admitted that I was on a list in his most recent email and that I could unsubscribe. Save yourself time and avoid this dealership unless you’re ready to be scammed or harassed if you choose to not buy a car.
