Dealer Review:

This dealership tried to add over $3,000 in addition to taxes, tags, and dealer processing to their advertised "Guaranteed Wow" price. The fees included over $2,000 for a reconditioning fee and another $700 for some sort of deluxe detail package. The sales person did quickly remove the $700 fee but admitted that the store advertises a lower "Wow" price to get people in the door and then add the restoration fee. After showing the Koons Wow Price Promise on the Koons website the general manager removed the restoration fee. The only reason I drove to this dealership was the reassurance that there would be no hidden fees associated with the Koons Wow price, finding out this not be the case was disappointing. When I took delivery of the car, in addition to only being provided one key fob the vehicle had a warning light displayed stating there was an issue with the remote starter. I was instructed to take the vehicle to a Honda dealership to have this issue diagnosed. The vehicle needed a new start/stop switch. Koons did reimburse me for this expense but it took a few reminders to have the reimbursement check sent to me. I was told the check would be over-nighted but instead it took two weeks to get reimbursed. I've had the vehicle for a little over a month and the second key fob that was supposed to be mailed has never arrived. I contacted my sales associated several times and told several times that it would be sent. I don't like having to be a pest and repeatedly check on the status of an item. I have texted and emailed several times and at this point am counting my losses. The sales associate, Dequan, was cordial and helpful, though I'm not sure why he never sent the key fob. Had it not been for Dequan I would have likely walked away from this dealership and rated it a one.

The salesman I worked with, Manny, was friendly, professional, answered all my questions, and I believe we worked out a good deal. Make no mistake, just as at any dealership, you will have to come prepared and do your research to make sure you get a fair deal. Because these guys know what they’re doing! But both Manny and Chris understood where I was coming from, and I felt that they were quite fair and transparent in negotiation. I got a CPO 2016 Kia Soul EV with low miles, at fair KBB value and a good value for the car overall (though I was hoping to get the deal of the century and go maybe 500 lower!) and Bayside Kia was able to find financing which matched my pre-approved financing rate from my bank. They were prompt and professional in replying to my initial inquiry, and so far, have been the same in following up. I would definitely recommend this dealership to others who are looking for a used vehicle. Can’t speak to their new car sales, or vehicle service quality yet, but the car I bought was delivered clean, and without issues. Their ‘Bayside for Life’ service plan does seem like a good deal for those buying a traditional gas car, and every car sold gets 1 year free oil changes and tire rotations, and a few other benefits. You can opt to pay and extend the coverage if you want. I chose not to since this EV won’t need oil changes, but it could be worth it for a gas car. Thanks Manny and Chris for the good experience!
