The dealer had both cars I wanted to look at. I drove both and decided the newer, more expensive car was a better deal. A sales assistant brought the cars around for test drive. The salesman, who I talked to on the phone the day before, then completed the paperwork, taking care of all of the dmv details, washed the car, filled the gas tank, etc. The entire process took almost 3 hours. I felt like I got a great car for a great price, and good value overall. There were no problems, no hard sell. I would definitely recommend this place and would go back if I needed another car.

Dealer Review:

This is not a good company. I first drove out to see a car and they couldn't find the key. The next day they called me to quote a price and by their own website calculation they showed a payment of only 175 for 48 months. When the quote came back it was 246 for 60 months. I asked why and they said they "probably threw in a warranty by mistake". They said if they removed the warranty it would only be 30 dollars less. I told them they were way off and the guy said "i am in the business of presenting facts not convincing clients". I told him to scrap the deal. Totally dishonest organization.

Where do I begin? I came to the lot late but the entire process was super rushed. I felt like all they wanted was for me to sign papers so they could leave. When they brought me the car I was handed the keys along with a quick handshake. They did not offer a tour of the car, to setup bluetooth, feature review or anything. Well 3 days later the car died! It would not start. I called dealer and they told me to call Toyota Roadside. I did and that was a disaster. Long story short I paid them $103 for nothing. I ended up calling AAA and having the car taken to another Toyota. It was a bad batter but guess who had to pay, ME! Another $313 now I'm out of pocket $416 in THREE DAYS! Well they offered to reimburse me and it's been 10 days and I had to follow up with them twice just to see where my check is. Now the brakes are making noise so I have another appointment with them because your warranty doesnt kick in for 30 days. Needless to say this has been a complete nightmare. I've bought Toyota's from Ventura Toyota, Keyes Toyota in Van Nuys and Northridge Toyota and I have never experienced the horrific customer service that I received from Toyota of Santa Monica. I'm so disappointed!

Dealer Review:

I tried to find out information about a vehicle before purchasing it. Communication from Shift was terrible. The associate I was in contact with was unresponsive. I later get a hold of someone else and the price had gone up. I explained that I was trying to purchase the vehicle but poor communication stopped it and I didn't want to pay $1k more out the door because of poor communication from Shift. The associate understood but needed her manager to adjust the price back. I checked throughout the day and the manager never responded to her. I would check back every couple of days and no response. The next weekend I used the chat feature on Edmunds to talk to another Shift employee about the issue. They took my information and said they would have someone contact me, that contact never came. I called again and got a Manager on the phone. I explained to him that the poor communication at Shift shouldn't cost me more money. He just kept quoting their policies. He spoke as if he was the manager that was supposed to get back to the second associate I contacted. I pointed out that he too didn't communicate with his associate about my case. I asked him how are customer's supposed to confidently purchase a car from an online company if the employees of that company are not communicating well with customers or each other. I pointed out that the car had been on Edmunds.com almost 2 months and this had probably happened to other customers or else it would have been sold.. He had no answer for me and ultimately said they would not honor the price I originally tried to purchase the car for. If they can't handle simple communication, then I may have dodged a bullet by not purchasing from them. If you are reading this you may want to consider avoiding issues by avoiding Shift.
