First of all, the shopping experience is easier than I expected. I was shopping for a new Honda Odyssey as a gift for my mom. I did tons of research about the car, evaluate dealers' reputation & service, and most importantly price and the model I wanted. I went to 4 of the biggest Honda dealers in Northwest IL. Most of the dealers have the same sales process, started with MSRP, and expecting you give them a quote from another dealer, so they can try to match or beat it.  They usually call you back the next day and letting you know they want your business and willing to work with the numbers a bit more.The old school car sales process. I'm super tired of this process which is not efficient at all.   This experience did not happen when I walk to the River Oaks Honda. The sale rep Maysam Farra greeted me right after I walk in at 6PM. He is full of energy and ready to listen my needs. Long story short, they did not play old school car sales trick which request any quote from other dealerships. Instead of that, I just received a price they are willing to offer initially. Because I did all of the research prior to my visit, I know what a reasonable price looks like in the market. I just want someone treat me honestly from the very begining. This is more like shopping for "Honesty" than a " Car".   I do appreciate and respect their professionalism and honesty that save me lots of time on the real process.  The sales manager Eddy Mohammad also treat me like a family. He took his time to confirm they answered all my questions, and the delivery manager Larry Chambers make sure I know how to operate the car with all of the tech.  The whole experience made me feel like I'm Rolls owner. These fantastic people not only represent the Napleton River Oaks dealer, but also refresh my assumption on the HONDA brand. I would highly recommend all Honda buyer in IL to visit River Oaks Honda! Came in for a test drive. Asked for a price of $29,900 (which was $1,097 below list price) and was told that the price listed online was final. Was not able to come to an agreement on financing either and was laughed at by Dale’s manager Troy about getting a low rate at a local credit union. I said I would be in touch once external financing was set. I look the next day online and see they raised the car by $1,000 (up to $31,997). I emailed Troy and an internet sales rep (Ashley) 6 times over the next week and only received 1 response from Ashley. I call Ashley to ask if they are able to take off $400 from their asking price. She said that the asking price was the lowest they can go. I then ask if the price offered when I came in to test drive was still valid ($30,997) as the price online now showed $31,997. She responded by saying that the price never changed (even though it had changed for 9 days). After we were off the phone I re-checked the price and it was back down to $30,997. I then talk with Dale and ask if they can take off $300 off the out-the-door price. He tells me that they are not able to and that the price had now gone up $1,250 during the 5 minutes he was talking with the GM. I know they executed these price increases due to me not completing my financing with them and not having a trade-in which makes for extremely shady business practices. I HIGHLY ADVISE TO GO TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP DUE TO THESE SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES. BUYER BEWARE. IF YOU DON’T PLAN ON COMPLETING TRADE-IN/FINANCING WITH THEM EXPECT TO PAY AT LEAST $1,000 OVER ONLINE PRICE. MANAGERS/GM HAVE NO MORALS OR CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS. GO ELSEWHERE FOR NEW CAR. PRICE MANIPULATORS. *Dale was a patient sales person and listened to us. He obviously couldn’t complete any deals due to management. Ashley was quick to help as well but did lie that they price never changed. Manager Troy and the GM of Russ Darrow Greenfield should be ashamed of themselves for these slimy business practices.
