Great all-around car

2020 Ford Escape
Update: after 50k or so miles, my Escape Hybrid has been really solid. Perfect reliability except a couple software updates. Fuel economy is right at 38MPG average and includes a lot of hwy driving with bike(s) on the hitch rack. It’s comfortable, quiet, efficient, & looks good.
I bought the SE Sport Hybrid AWD model. I appreciate the conservative, “normal“, exterior styling of the … Escape relative to the RAV4 which looks juvenile to me.
The fuel economy is great...equal to, the numbers on the sticker (I’ve verified the MPG by calculation). Fuel economy numbers drop by a couple when hauling my mountain bike on a hitch rack. The drivetrain is quiet, powerful, and has no transmission gears to trip over; unless I needed the 3500lb tow rating of the 2.0ecoboost, I consider the hybrid the best power train for escape. The Escape’s 1500lb tow rating tows my utility trailer with no problem.
The power pano moonroof is outstanding—I love it. The interior controls are all logical and work well, including the infotainment system, altho the infotainment has gotten slower with age. Seating position is great with good visibility all around. The Co-Pilot 360 safety features all work well and are not intrusive. The rotary shift controller has a quality feel and is the best solution I’ve seen—there’s just no reason anymore to have a big clunky shifter taking up space in the cabin.
Nitpicks...ventilated front seats would have been a standout feature (I’d personally prefer manual instead of power seats, but I guess I’m in the minority). Fit up between the hood and A-pillar is not great on the passenger side.
My biggest comment is that the hybrid should use HEAT PUMP for heating in cool weather. In cold-weather around-town driving, the engine runs for the sole purpose of making cabin heat and negatively impacts fuel economy. The car already has an electric AC, it can’t cost that much more to add heat pump function to it.
