Overview
The Toyota Tundra is a full-size pickup truck available in a variety of trims, ranging from a stripped-down gear hauler to a comfortable, leather-trimmed cruiser. Toyota redesigned the truck in 2022 and this version is even more comfortable for everyday living than its predecessor. It's not our top pick in the segment, but the Tundra is worth a look if you're looking for the performance and capability of a large pickup. There are numerous bed, cabin, powertrain and trim level configurations, so there's likely a Tundra to suit your needs.
Edmunds spotlight: A hybrid meant for power more than efficiency
The standard V6 engine in the Toyota Tundra is more than capable, producing 389 horsepower. But that's nothing compared to the power you get from the hybrid version of the engine. This powertrain combination boosts output to 437 hp — it's an option on the Limited and Platinum trims and comes standard on TRD Pro and Capstone trims. Toyota tuned this engine for increased performance, so don't expect fuel economy to dramatically improve.
Competitors to consider
The Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500 and Ram 1500 are all great options if you're looking for a full-size pickup. Whether you're looking for something luxurious, off-road ready, or modestly equipped and ready for work, there's a truck for you. The toughest part of shopping for a new truck these days is narrowing down the list of contenders.
