Some factory flaws to consider

2019 Toyota Tacoma Limited 4dr Double Cab 4WD 5.0 ft. SB (3.5L 6cyl 6A)
I am leasing a 2019 Tacoma Limited (wanted a TRD Off Road, but dealer didn't have a decent color available) and am ultimately pleased thus far (had it for a month). However, there ARE a few flaws I'd like to share with prospective buyers -- not to dissuade, but to educate and alert.
First, the front side windows are slightly tinted with a film that causes a wavy pattern in the glass, … distorting the view at certain forward angles. My passenger complains of motion sickness at low speeds caused by the distortion of horizontal objects that seem to ripple with forward motion. I only mention this because this is not an issue with Tacoma's competition, the Ford Ranger.
Second, the engine hood sheet metal was separated from the framework underneath which caused the hood panel to visibly vibrate at speeds above 40 mph -- very annoying and distracting. I resolved this issue myself by liberally applying 100% silicone adhesive to the space between the framework and the sheet metal, providing both support and adhesion.
Next, the tri-fold hard tonneau cover that came with the truck has a gap between the cover and the bed rail that allows water to seep inside -- and the cover itself has no way to adjust the tightness to the bed. Seriously? Who designed this cover?
Finally, and I mean this as a personal fan of cup holders because of their convenience, why are there TEN cup holders in a cab that seats five people? Do all Japanese drink from both hands while travelling? WTF?
It should also be noted that when I washed my Tacoma in a touchless car wash, the rubber strip on the roof that covers the groove where an optional roof rack would be added dislodged and began flapping during the blow dry cycle of the car wash.
Noisy

2019 Toyota Tacoma Limited 4dr Double Cab 4WD 5.0 ft. SB (3.5L 6cyl 6A)
Bought new 2019 Tacoma limited edition. Was very happy until at about 2500 miles and the rear end starts howling very loud. Took to dealer(very happy with dealer) they checked/inspected rear end as well as test drive. Dealer acknowledged howling noise and said they test drove 2 new Tacoma’s off their lot and they both had howling rear ends. Dealer deemed it normal. I really blame Toyota … for the lack of concern for howling rear end , not the dealer. I’m scared to take it on any trips(I bought it for that very purpose) due to the rear end noise. Afraid it’s gonna strand me and my family. Very disappointed. - Update...Rear end is quiet as a church mouse now. Dealership awesome (Toyota of Bowling Green,Ky) it took a few weeks for Toyota of BG manager(excellent customer service) to talk to Toyota’s engineers and get the ball in motion( still very pleased with the diligence of dealership getting it done in a few weeks)...they replaced rear differential and all is well. Even though I’ve had this problem with the rear end...it was taken care of properly and in a timely manner. Very happy with my 19 Taco Limited and dealership 👍👍
Satisfied. No surprises.

2019 Toyota Tacoma Limited 4dr Double Cab 4WD 5.0 ft. SB (3.5L 6cyl 6A)
Have had my 2019 Tacoma for about 3 months & 2500 miles. No disappointments so far. Traded in a 2012 Ram Laramie Longhorn. Didn't expect the Toyota to be as powerful, quiet, and comfortable as the Ram, and it's not, but it's still what I expected......a rugged 4wd compact truck. No regrets. Update. 3yrs & 15000 miles. Couple of recalls, no other issues. Would buy another.

2019 Toyota Tacoma Limited 4dr Double Cab 4WD 5.0 ft. SB (3.5L 6cyl 6A)
I only Test Drove a Toyota Tacoma Limited. The short time spent driving the truck was great and everything I thought it should be.The backseat legroom was a little cramped in my opinion. There is a wide variety to select from in interiors and truck types. Lots of accessories to select also. Safety seems to take a huge priority with the Tacoma. I felt very safe and aware of the … surroundings while driving.

Which Tacoma does Edmunds recommend?
The topped-out TRD Pro and Limited trim levels are the most appealing of the Tacoma offerings, but they're also the most expensive. So, if you're looking for great value alongside great capability, we recommend the TRD Off-Road trim level. It comes with the upgraded V6 powertrain and can be had in both extended-cab or crew-cab configurations. It is also available with an impressive suite of comfort features such as heated front seats, dual-zone climate control and an upgraded JBL stereo.

Driving
7.5The Tacoma's powertrain is its weak point on the road due to an overly shifty transmission. But the truck makes the right moves for an outdoorsy 4x4 that does not care whether the road is paved or not. Brake modulation could be better on-road. In the unpaved realm, the Tacoma stands out.
Comfort
7.5This Tacoma rides smoother and has better noise isolation than the previous model, and it excels compared to the competition, too. The seats are comfortable, but the seating position is unusual in order to maximize ground clearance. It's more of an entry issue, though, than a comfort one.
Interior
7.0The attractive interior is also nicely laid out, with easily understood and effective controls. There's plenty of space up front, though headroom isn't top-hat worthy. The most significant shortcomings are the relatively tall step-up to get into the cabin and the odd driving position.
Utility
7.5The Tacoma's bed is a model of usefulness. Its relatively low and short sides make for an easier reach than the Colorado, and its numerous bed accessories are available across many trims. Cabin storage is decent in variety, though none of the nooks are particularly large.
Technology
7.0The Tacoma is a mixed bag when it comes to tech features. It's great when it comes to active safety gear because it's all standard. But audio-related tech is another ballgame — one that Toyota is losing. The Tacoma's approach to smartphones and smartphone integration is simply way out of touch.
