Like a Rock!
Vrreeeeep!!! That's the sound it makes with a supercharger!! Truck is a blast to drive. I had to retard the timing a little for the supercharger (TRD says you don't need to, but you do to avoid pinging). Anyway, the truck has more punch than anything I've driven. I can outrun any truck on the road and still maintain better average gas mileage. I've put 17000 miles on it since I bought it and I have no complaints. GET ONE!!!! Supercharge it!!
good truck
I have never had any problems with this vehicle. I was a delivery driver for 2 years and drove it into the ground. As I said before, it is completly relible, and has made many long and short trips with me.
Great Little Taco
I will have to say that Toyota did a fairly good job with this truck however they did cut corners in some places. One place that does need improvement would be the seats. Long trips or bumpy roads, I have a lot of back aches with this. Also the interior on some models were equipped with clocks and some without. Why a clock you say? Why not it looks cool and completes the look of just a blank black square. Upgrade you say, well yeah but for $80.00, come on I mean go to Wal-mart and buy a cheaper one and tape it over the black hole. Over all though good truck and excellent duribility.
My Yoda may last forever
I bought yoda new in 1999. Aside from a major accident in 2007 ($16,000 in repairs), all I have done is routine maintenance and I am at 135,000 mi. Regular oil changes at every 5k and new breaks at 90k. I don't have a 4x4, but I take it muddin sometimes, and it makes we work hard to get it stuck (using the winch is half the fun). Aside from its stunning good looks and how fun it is to drive, it is extremely reliable. It always starts on the first turn, even in the cold.
1999 Tacoma Prerunner 2dr std cab
Have owned truck 3 years. Only problem was dead battery. Dealer sent serviceman to mall lot to start car and replaced battery at dealership, total time two hours. Truck cab is small and seats could be more padded for long trips. Speed control is appreciated on highway. has been great truck. springs could have been stronger, very small load capacity. Would consider new one same model.
I Love My Tacoma
I love my truck. I drive a 92 Civic with a motor swap and such...it's a nice truck though...wish I had gotten the V6 though...:(
Love it
I love it, it good off road and it is only the 2 wheel drive. also good on road.. feels alot of bumps but i dont mind that
fun to beat on
very good truck. fun to beat on. looks good and easy to pimp out.
The Best Car
This was one of the most amazing trucks, it is no wonder they are so hard to find! My Tacoma was at about 118,000 miles when I drifted of the road on a rainy day and overcorrected, which caused my car to flip when it hit a soft spot. I walked out of the car with only a scratch on my arm. Although the damage exceeded the value of the car, it kept me completely safe. This car showed no signs of age, and with routine oil changes would have lasted probably 200,000 more miles. It's bed served all my purposes, offered organizational storage, and is a car I would by far recommend to anyone.
Great reliable truck
I have yet to have a problem with this truck. Body is holding up great, not a single mechanical issue and I have owned it for 4.25 years. All I have done is change the oil every 5,000 miles and rotate the tires every 3,000. I average 17.5 miles per gallon overall. If you use the ETC (electronic transmission control) button your gas milage will decrease. I actually get better gas milage when hauling some weight. I have the V6 automatic. In the old traffic light to traffic light drag race, I have toasted the likes of a Nissan Maxima. I never worry about its get up and go. Great reliable truck overall!
