2011 Toyota Sienna Minivan SE 8-Passenger 4dr Minivan (3.5L 6cyl 6A)
I purchased the SE due to it's awesome looks. Chose the color White. We live in snow county so I was concerned about the 19" low profile performance tires for traction in the snow. Much to my delight this is a tank in the snow even with these very sharp hi-tech tires. What a relief. Same traction as my 08 Odyssey which was quite good. Also had 4 Suburban vehicles prior and traction for the minivan is comparable. Minivans are quite, more room than Suburbans, handle much better, much easier in and out, much better gas mileage. Most guys I know love them but the wives still feel they don't want them yet. I hope this will change. Minivans are the greatest. What a way to Tour. SE is a WOW !!!
Handling. Room. Visibility. We installed a PS3 and Movie screen. Can watch Blurays and play Madden. Installed a JVC KW-NT3HDT Nav radio. Fantastic radio and real simple to run. Real sharp. Also installed remote starter. Middle seats slide way back when no one is in the third seat.
I have not had time to try the mini 8th seat. Jump seat I would say. Maybe it is going to be great. Can't say yet. The fact you can store it is great.
Bought our van in April and have 8k on it. Build quality is excellent and we have had absolutely no problems. We have 3 young children and avoided a minivan at all costs, but love the functionality of this van. It has made our lives easier. Interior is a very nice place to spend time, and it is by far the best looking minivan. The new Honda does not even compare and we looked when it came out. Great gas mileage especially considering the power this van has. Major bang for the buck if you avoid silly and pricey options.
Looks. Room. Gas mileage.
XLE should have auto head lights and power points in middle and third row seats. Power points are in the way back or all the way up front. Front seats could have a bit more bolstering like all Toyotas.
Performance- Excellent engine and transmission combination. Shift smoothly and always find right gear. Interior- The 2011 version take a step back in the interior material as compare to my 04/08 limited. Too much hard plastic. Loved the lounge seat. Gas Mileage- Only getting slightly above 17 mpg. Drive and Ride- Handling is much better than previous generation. While the steering is numb, handling is about as good as 2011 Odyssey. Ride is silky smooth. Unlike the 2011 odyssey we later test drove, Sienna is smooth with better body control. Brake- Excellent brake. Firm and does not fade.
Wide DVD, HID with height adjustment, Lounge Seat
1. Would love to have SE with navigation, HID, and DVD. 2. Interior plastic is too hard and cheap.
3-year lease on an XLE. Did not bother to get it with nav or entertainment. Since we have smartphones, this seems like a good choice even a month on. Good looking van. Some questionable exterior design choices (like the presence of a quite visible panel at the lower end of the sliding doors.) Wife loves the black color. Interior is (like many people mentioned) a bit cheap looking, but hey if that bothers you so much, you should not buy it at all. Design of the cabin lights is really bad. The back of the 3rd row along with the appearance of the cargo well is not as polished as the Odyssey. Comm Technology is not good at all. Bluetooth is a hit-or-miss affair.
Great aggressive stance, basic features (like windshield wipers, windows, etc.) work beautifully, space is well allocated, rear window vents (no idea why I like this)
Backup camera should be integrated into rear view mirror, bluetooth needs to perform better, some of the console buttons defy intuition.
2011 Toyota Sienna Minivan LE 8-Passenger 4dr Minivan (3.5L 6cyl 6A)
The first winter blast has changed my excitement to disappointment. Heating system is a crap. There are buttons, knobs and noise but no hot airflow, especially to foot area. At -18 C (0 F) it is never warm up to comfortable temperature inside. At -30 C (-22 F) it is a disaster up to safety issue. You are thinking how to survive and not how to drive. Is it safe to steer by fists? Somebody can advice to install cardboard in font of radiator. Ok, but no room, remove grill first. I still do not know is windshield defroster installed or not on my vehicle, Toyota ca says Yes, wiper blades say No. Otherwise I like this van.
Please weld 2 nuts to body somewhere under front bumper to properly install power socket from engine electric heater. Dealers tie wrap power wire to plastic lower grill. Do Toyota engineers thinking that it is a good idea?
