2006 Toyota Sienna Minivan LE 7-Passenger 4dr Minivan (3.3L 6cyl 5A)

Review

This is a nice vehicle to drive. Quiet comfortable, and relatively good power for mountain driving. Has one serious flaw and that is the Brake Assist. This is a saftey hazzard waiting for an accident to happen. It engages the transmission and engine on hard braking especially going down hills and then won't release when I remove my foot from the brake. Must either step on the gas or shove the shifter into neutral to disengage the transmission. I've driven for 54 years with out a computer controlling my cars brakes and either Toyota finds a way to turn it on and off manually or it will be in some other manufactures used car lot. Radio is very poor.

Ride and performance

Worst Features

Junk the Brake Assist feature

2006 Toyota Sienna Minivan XLE Limited 7-Passenger 4dr Minivan AWD (3.3L 6cyl 5A)

Review

Excellent dash and options layout, easy to drive, many safety oriented items with thoughtful availability. fuel efficient for size and weight. DLC and backup camera are well received. Navigation system is great for travelers. Power third row seats are excellent choice for older drivers or for physically smaller individuals.

Best Features

DLC, power third row, navigation system, rear camera, folding exterior mirrors.

Worst Features

Power seat that automatically rotates to the rear (back) for easier entry and exit. 12 volt power outlet that is "hot" at all times. Turbo.

Review

After 5 months and 7500 miles of driving, I have a pretty good feel for the Sienna. It's a nice ride! After several trips to Las Vegas from LA fully loaded, it didn't even break a sweat going up the Baker grade, even with the AC going. The real test of a nice ride is how you feel after a long drive and I never felt any fatigue at all. It's very roomy inside. Able to throw lots of people and gear inside with room to spare.

Best Features

I can't believe I'm saying this, living in LA, but one of the best features so far has been the seat heaters. On a cool morning (in the 50 degree range) it takes the edge off nicely. Even if your back is feeling a little stiff, it provides a soothing warmth. Stereo controls on the steering wheel.

Worst Features

There is a bit of hesitation when coming out of slow turns. Not sure if it is an engine and/or transmission issue, but one gets used to it. Averaging 19.4 mpg overall, but have gotten up to 23 mpg on a couple of long haul trips.

2006 Toyota Sienna Minivan LE 8-Passenger 4dr Minivan (3.3L 6cyl 5A)

Review

2 major problems within 1600 miles: A. Side airbag defect due to exposed wires. Driver seat had to be replaced B. Transmission failed while merging on the freeway - almost got rear-ended. Was very lucky to survive. Don't buy into Toyota's hype. This is my last toyota!

Best Features

Smooth quiet, ride!

Worst Features

How about better QC? Toyota- are you listening?

Review

We drive in New Mexico and get about 25.5 mpg going back and forth to work. On the highway at 75 mph we get anywhere from 27 to 31 mpg! The seats in this van are almost as comfortable as the ones in our old Mercury Villager but not quite. This is our travel car and we drive all over New Mexico, very fuel efficient and comfy.

Best Features

The cool blue and white gauges on this van are eye candy. The center console is great and highly useful.

Worst Features

The CD has to be put in the CD player at some weird angle or it won't go in. Surprising, since everything else is well thought out.
