2005 Toyota Sequoia SUV Limited 4WD 4dr SUV (4.7L 8cyl 5A)

Review

the sequoia has a comfortable ride for being built on a truck frame. all the options for safety and entertainment are great.

Best Features

plenty of room, passenger comfort, (even in the third row for an adult) safety features like traction control, abs, and many more.

Worst Features

the classic styling could be upgraded to a more futuristic appeal.

2005 Toyota Sequoia SUV SR5 Rwd 4dr SUV (4.7L 8cyl 5A)

Review

Good ride and plenty of power - nice styling - had problem with design of 3rd row seat resulting in a bent latching mechanism - Toyota will not stand behind the product and repair under warranty. Also having trouble with bad exhaust odor in cabin after heavy acceleration - this seems to big a very common complaint from owners, but dealer in Austin did not know what to do about it. Will probably consider other makes next time around.

Best Features

Ride height great - comfortable on road trips - plenty of legroom in first & and second row seats

Worst Features

Must get rid of the exhaust odor problem experienced in cabin after hard acceleration, and need to redesign the third row seats.

Review

Bought an '05 Limited 4x4 in May. Nice, roomy, well thought out. Gets better mileage (15/18) than the 6 cylinder Land Cruiser (13/15)I had before this! Purposely waited deep into the model year to hopefully have the bugs mentioned in the forums ironed out. So far, so good! 5 speed is smooth and sure. No vibrations, wind noises, ABS/VSC/transmission issues or annoyances. Plenty of power with the '05 V8. Would have liked the Nav, but did not want the rear DVD and Luxury package options. Seemed like these three were all lumped in together in the vehicles available. A Garmin StreetPilot c330 fixed that! All in all, a great truck for my needs. Plenty of room, nice style and performance.

Best Features

Info center is cool. Also, the power/remote roll down rear window is a nice option that was not available in the Land Cruiser. Nice that the remote does not "honk your horn" when locking/unlocking. The chime is much more discreet. Power tilt-in side view mirrors?? OK, why not!

Worst Features

No headlight "left on" chime when key removed. Column shifter?? C'mon, its a Toyota, not a Ford or Chevy. Too bad the 3rd row does not fold flat. Marginal armrests on the front seats. How about a real handle or grip to lower the rear hatch instead of a cheesy strap thats going to snap off soon?

Review

I bought this SUV used and have never had to have any work done on it except normal upkeep. It is the most comfortable car I've ever owned. When replacement time comes, I will replace it with another Sequoia.

Best Features

plush seats, heated seats, retractable mirrors, curtain airbags, great heating and air, numerous cup holders and large console, rear air, window defogger

Worst Features

maybe better gas mileage

Review

It’s a 2004, owned for 18 months, with 21K. It has been very reliable, so far. Yea it's large, yet doesn't ride like a big a boat. Makes you feel like your driving a vehicle half the size. Has a smooth, comfortable ride in any seat. Engine has nice pick up and the gas mileage isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I have gotten up to 19 miles to the gallon (speed limit driving) on the highway! Love this SUV!

Best Features

The third row is one of the main reasons I bought this vehicle over of the other SUV's out there. The rear seat access, comfort, that they recline a bit, the way they individually tumble out of the way for more room is great! I like the power rear window and large sun roof too.

Worst Features

Would like to have the front seat map/interior lights come on when the door is open (little dark up front). Would like a remote switch on the dash for the operation of the other interior lights. Allow the driver seat to move back maybe an inch or two more.
