Great Vehicle

The 2018 RAV4 has excellent ride, comfort, and safety technology. I was ambivalent about getting the advanced technology package with parking sensors, surround cameras, front collision avoidance, and lane change detector, but now that I have it, very glad I did. Considered purchasing a Honda CRV or Subaru, but the RAV has better features and comfort.

Reliable compact SUV

Probably the 8th Toyota / Lexus car I have purchased. Purchased for my son who attends college in upstate New York, lots of snow.... The Rav-4 has a comfortable ride with all the safety features standard. For a compact SUV it has plenty of cargo space and a comfortable rear seat. I am 6'3" tall and the front seats give me plenty of leg room. My final decision to purchase the Rav-4 boiled down to three things, Great reliability / Toyota's hold their value and the safety features. 1 year of ownership.... No problems. Toyota's 2 years of free maintenance is another great feature the car comes with.

Back to a RAV4 after a 2 year hiatus

I took two years off from a RAV4, for a Buick Encore. I regret my decision to leave my RAV4 last time although my last RAV4 wasn't equipped with things I needed for my wife, like heated seats and a power driver seat for when she drove it. These were crucial for someone with back problems, but I hadn't considered it when I bought it, not realizing that it would be such a big problem for her - but it was. The Encore had all of this, and then some. What the Encore didn't have was (1) a passenger arm rest - don't think of this as trivial, it is a downright burden if you have back problems or take a long trip and (2) space is a premium that we simply could not live without any longer. We were bumping elbows constantly, trying to share a single driver seat arm rest, and nowhere to put our packages/bags/boxes because the cargo area was pretty small. We have a 90lb German Shepherd and 12lb Chihuahua and take them with us everywhere when we travel together (nights/weekends). I started to get claustrophobic all the time, got annoyed bumping elbows all the time, and going out together was getting more difficult to endure. So, I took a bath on my trade and got back into a RAV4. I got the SE model. Why? Power driver's seat and heated leather-like seats. The SE is a sporty model and it looks sharp, but I only got it because it had what a I needed, without anything more. The Limited is a step-up, but we didn't need all it had to offer vs. saving some money. I bought the 2018 because the 2019 slope of the rear will cut off much needed cargo room. I needed cargo space and now have it. The rear seats fold completely flat (gas model) and even when up, give plenty of storage vs. the Encore. I miss some things that the Encore had that the RAV4 doesn't, like remote start, or Onstar, yes. But not enough to get past the lack of space. The Encore also had some annoyances, like the drivers seat seams coming apart (supple leather, cheap stitches), and the auto air/heat not working like it should. The ride, handling, look, feel, fit and finish, etc. are fine with the RAV4, although some minor dash rattling and center arm rest rattling reminds me I'm in a RAV4, nearly perfect, but with minor annoyances. Ah, but the space. The passenger seat sits annoyingly close to the dash, but you get used to it. I know it is closer than I would like to allow for plenty of rear seat leg room. The lack of a real GPS in anything less than the Limited is shameful, in today's world of electronics. The Scoutlink GPS workaround on the SE kinda works okay, but is glitchy and sometimes shuts off mid-trip. The radio and speakers are fine, and I remember the JBL system was a bigger disappointment because all the sound came out of the front center speaker like an AM Radio from a 1975 sedan. The LED lights (headlights) are something that you should know are the best in the car industry right now. Plenty of light, spread out in front of you, and the high beams are LED as well. The bright LED daytime running lights (SE and Limited) are amazingly bright and function as parking lights as well. The LED tail lights and brake lights are more than adequate to warn drivers behind you. The air/heat work like a dream. The rear power lift gate is slow, but a nice upgrade and very reliable. The halogen fog lights point too close to the ground, but no biggie. The safety sense suite of things (Drifting from lane with correction, emergency braking, dynamic radar cruise control, auto high beams, and on mine the blind spot monitors on the mirrors are amazing. There is nothing more you could want in a car, it really feels good to be back in a RAV4. I tried lots of others and everything else was a disappointment. The RAV4, the 2018 version is one worth getting before they are all gone. Oh yes, the transmission is a perfect shifter, the engine smooth and quiet, the ride mostly decent, and the handling (SE model) is very sporty feeling. I will be keeping this one, and I'm only sorry I got rid of my 2015 Limited, it had everything I needed and wanted. I did a trade in for a RAV4 hybrid to save a few bucks, and only spent lots more going round and round until I got back to the 2018 RAV4 SE model. I'm nearly 300lbs and about 6' tall. If I can get cozy and feel comfortable in this so can you. MPG on highway nearer to 30. MPG in city/suburbs with lots of lights/traffic, about 21.

Third Rav-4, love them

Kevin, 08/19/2018
2018 Toyota RAV4 Adventure 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl 6A)
132 of 139 people found this review helpful

I just recently purchased a 2018 Rav-4 Adventure. This is the third Rav-4 I have owned in a row, 2012 Rav-4 XLE, 2015 Rav-4 XLE, and now the 2018 Rav-4 Adventure. I travel A LOT for my job putting over 40,000 miles a year on each of the Rav-4's. I can truthfully say I have not had one bit of problem with the past two and do not expect any problems with this one. The last two I traded with over 120,000 miles on each and only thing I done to them is the change tires, 2012 at 86,000 miles and the 2015 at 104,000 miles. Not bad for tires that came with the vehicle. I changed brakes at around 86,000 miles on both. I changed wiper blades once on each, and changed oil and filters on schedule. Neither had a tuneup, never even changed a light bulb. That is it, and I mean that is it. Not one warranty issue with any of them. The 2018 has about the same power as the 2015. The 2012 I felt did not have quite as much power but still respectable. No problem cursing 75 mph even through PA and TN mountains. Both the 2015 and 2018 have the 6 speed automatic. I believe the 2012 also had a 6 speed automatic but don't remember for sure. All three are All Wheel Drive. I read all the reviews good and bad, and even how the placement of the cruise control is a deal breaker for one person. To each their own I guess and not out to judge others. I have also read that the Rav-4 does not handle as good as other suv's and power is not as good. I can tell you that the Rav-4 corners well and holds the road. It of course is not going to handle like a corvette, then again it is not a $62,000.00 car. It has a sharp turning radius and can get into some very tight spots easily. It is a fun vehicle to drive. The All Wheel Drive is a must for me and the past two Rav-4's I never got stuck, ever. I have been able to get down the road even when I could not see the road and felt like I was in control. I have pushed snow with the front bumper and heard it sliding across the bottom under me yet it did not spin a wheel and kept going. Yes I got the Adventure this time as it has more ground clearance. I did mention I drive in some nasty winters. When I purchased my 2015 Rav-4 I decided to never reset the average MPH to see what the average would be. At 122,000 miles the average was 28.4 miles per gallon. I do A Lot of highway driving but I do not baby it. 75 cruising speeds. This is off regular gas. My wife had a 2008 Suzuki. After multiple times in the garage then the starter switch went bad. Then the rear hatch door release did not want to work half the time. She loved the Rav-4 so much she purchased a 2015 Rav-4 LEalso, so I guess I could say this is my 4th Rav-4 now. No issues with hers either. Every car out there has plus and minus things about them. None are perfect. No one vehicle fits everyone. What one person thinks is poor handling another thinks is great. Everyone has to test it for themselves and make their own opinion. I can say if you are looking for a reliable vehicle that just keeps going down the road with little costs to operate, and holds it's resale value better than almost anything out there, you cannot beat Toyota. My hat go off to them.

3 New RAVs in a Row in the 2010s

Three RAVs and two Highlanders in a row and no reliability issues in over 160,000 miles says it all for Toyota reliability and our repeat purchases. We have bought new cars from seven different auto companies, so we know and appreciate quality and reliable Toyotas in comparison with other manufacturers.

We came from a Honda CR-V but we really fell in love with the Rav when we drove it! We test drove a Mitsubishi, but weren't happy with the overall feel of the drive and the interior seemed a little on the low-quality side. We love the the immense safety features with the rav and the handling is superb! The car has so many safety features that I doubt we'll ever use all of them [like the radar assist cruise-control] but I guess it's nice to have if you're planning a long trip. Very satisfied with the comfy [heated] seats and the leg/head room is awesome. The biggest selling point for us was the quality of the materials and the outstanding quality and reliability of Toyota vehicles. We liked our Honda but just feel like we're getting more for our dollar with the rav-4.

Continual frustrations

If your key fob dies to your keyless enters. Be prepared. It will cost you about $400 to replace and reprogram. The metal key will only open the door. There is no place to put that particular key into an ignition. In addition, there is no longer a GPS in the car. You must use an ap called SPORT through your phone to project on the car's screen. The graphics are horrible, and the directions are often wrong. Toyota is going to lose customers. I feel like I've been duped. Before you purchase a Toyota, make sure that you know about the built in high cost items like key fobs and reprograming, and horrible Scout GPS system.

Love this vehicle. My back especially loves this vehicle. Perfect for me, stylish (have the blacked out sport edition), mileage is great, cargo area is adequate (golf clubs fit—very important) and the mileage is great mixed. We have 2 in our family and love both.

Handles really well - easy to park. Fun to drive - did disable the radar controlled cruise - braked too much - don't like that. Took it on long trip - great gas mileage, with a heavily loaded down car. Held more than I thought it would. Great price - did shopping online and was more than pleased with deal - Midstate Toyota in Asheboro, NC was very easy to deal with and took less than an hour in dealership to be on the road. Our 3rd new Toyota and will continue to buy Toyota.

It does not have Apple or Android capability, but I knew that going in. We recently took it on a 2000 mile road trip and it handled and perfromed excellently. By folding down the rear seat there is plenty of cargo area. The Adventure package is perfect for our lifestyle. Since I am recently retired, this should be my last car.

I have only had the car for 4 days now, so I'm still getting to used to it, but here is what I've noticed so far. Pros: It has more standard features than a Honda HRV EX-L such as the lane departure warning and active lift-gate; Sport Mode makes it feel like you're driving a 6-cylinder engine; it handled great on icy roads; the backup camera picture quality is better than many I have seen so I have confidence using it; there is a lot of information available on the instrument display panel (almost too much) including navigation directions and audio details; the message feature on the Entune Premium sound system gives you 15 different responses that you can change and customize- the HRV only had 5 or 6 and I don't think you could change them. Cons: When driving over some holes or bumps in the road there is a sort of hollow sound coming from the back of the car- I think it's "normal" but odd; the all-weather floor mats are garbage- they are soft rubber and do not anchor to the floor, they slide forward 2 inches every time I get in and out of the car- get WeatherTechs instead; some of the button lay-outs are in really odd places- the auto lift-gate button is mostly hidden by the steering wheel and the traction control button is in the middle of dash above the radio- it seems like those two should have been swapped, also the steering wheel controls for the radio are on the left side- it seems more intuitive for them to be closer to the radio; the speedometer is kind of busy and hard to read- I would have really liked a digital speed display added to all the other features of the instrument display; the steering wheel controls are kind of confusing- the controls for the instrument display have more functionality than those for the entertainment system and I'm still getting used to them; some features are highly customize-able such as the color of the radio's font and display elements, while other things I would like to be able to customize aren't there like disabling some of the Entune apps so they don't show up when I scroll through audio sources, also having more apps available through Entune would be nice- the ones they have aren't all that useful to me.

I try to drive 62 mph on the highway with cruise on. Get at least 30 mph that way. At first I thought the mph was a bit less than my 2105 RAV4 LE, but after I changed my driving habits I realized I was wrong. The vehicle rides well and is reasonably quiet inside. Had one emergency stop and vehicle performed well. I am happy with my purchase, and recommend the vehicle.

I have owned ten new Toyotas since 1990. The quality and caring customer service has always been their strong point. I now own a 2016 Rav 4 XLE and it is an example of Toyota quality. There is a whistling sound coming from the car when decelerating. The dealer says it is the transmission but the Toyota service rep says they are wrong. You have no recourse to question the service rep. His word is God and Toyota doesn’t care if you and the dealer like it or not. I cannot believe Toyota’s cavalier attitude. This is not affecting driving but obviously something is not right. The mileage could be much better. I can count on this car to get me wherever I need to go even with the whistling noise. Overall I would buy this car again.

I can't really speak so soon about repairs and resale value, but I can say that this is the second RAV4 i have owned. I had the first one for eight years and only replaced it because my daughter wanted the old one and I was ready for a new one! I love the hauling capacity combined with a car-like ride.

From Van to SUV

For the previous 20 years I have owned mostly Chrysler vans or Toyota/Honda front-wheel drive cars. This is my first All Wheel Drive vehicle. Recently I made a trip across Highway 36 in N. Calif. Roads were covered with snow and ice. Rav4 never hesitated climbing the hills and didn't require chains while driving the slick areas where required. I had always wanted an AWD when I went to our local dealer, I told them I wanted a 2018 "left-over" with a decent rebate. I lucked out that they had 4 Rav4, but only one with AWD....beautiful Black Currant color(I believe that is the name of the color). The car has plenty of power in the Eco mode and feels like a V-6 in the Sport mode. I leave the Eco mode on as I want the best gas mileage I can get! Average so far is 26 .3MPG all around driving! Car is plenty comfortable. My son is 6'3" and can sit in the back seat with plenty of room on either side. Cloth seats are comfortable, although my driver's side had to be enhanced by a local car interior specialist....had some padding placed in the center of the seat under the seat cover...the bolster had caused some back pain, but with the extra padding it is fine...I have made 2 600 mile trips with no problem!

The "Softex" seats are very comfortable and large, and the power seat raises the front of the seat for great thigh support to allow for a recliner type of driving position which raises the legs to allow for more foot room. The 15.9 gallon fuel tank and SUV fuel economy does limit cruising range compared to the Camry we traded in, but the higher and more comfortable seating position is worth the trade off for the amount of long highway trips we take on I 95 along the east coast. Some of the controls took a bit of time to figure out, but all work well after familiarization. It's a solid SUV, well mannered around town or at interstate speeds, and we are very happy we stepped up to the Limited trim.

Liked 2018 more than 2019 Rav4

I drove my 2011 Rav4 for 8 years and only had i repair, the alternator. Decided to just go ahead and trade it in on new 2019 model. The new front did not look happy while the 2018 just seemed more cheerful. The inside of the 2019 felt claustrophobic and the 2018 felt airy. The sales guy asked why I did not want to pay full MSRP, but he was quoting 10% more than MSRP. So I went looking new or used 2018 since it was the most popular SUV . When i realized they were selling like crazy I had to actually order and buy one sight unseen online, in the middle of the night. It is safe, happy inside and out, uncomplicated ( my old Garmin plugs in and is way better than car navigation, turned off bluetooth on iPhone to resolve irritating car phone). Also saved 1/3 expense.. XLE with power liftgate, 2 years left on new car warranty. The transmission works great. That is all..

My Wife and I downsized into this form a 4 Door F-150 pickup, and so far are really liking it. I Opted for the Adventure version due to the fact that it can tow 3500 lbs when equipped with a tow receiver. It was a compromise that I needed to have both a small car that i can trailer behind a motorhome, but also have AWD for winters and the ability to tow a small utility trailer. I'm 6'2" and 250 lbs and I fit comfortably in the car and still leave plenty of passenger leg room behind me. we drove Honda, Kia, Hyundai and others before deciding on the Toyota. Only thing I wished it had was a subwoofer as i had in my pickup before, but overall, we are very pleased with the vehicle.

I am underwhelmed with the vehicle so far. However, I have not owned many suv's. I just purchased this vehicle and I thought that it has great safety features for this base model. Pro's are that it handles/drives very well in windy or cross wind days! You can barely feel that the vehicle is being pushed. The headlights have auto dim that works pretty well for oncoming traffic. Poor gas mileage for a smaller suv! The ECO/Normal and sport transmission options are good tho. The bluetooth and sound system is low. I have adjusted what I could and still callers keep asking me to repeat myself and speak up!! It is annoying and I have checked the in call speaker volume in the settings. The voice system does not understand names well either and I set up the recognition too! So i'm fighting with that constantly. Hands free should work better these days for all manufacturers. I don't have an accent either. Stock stereo sounds low even tho I have adjusted that. Apple car play and XM radio are not an option on this model either sadly. There always is a hollow wind noise coming from the rear passenger side area. Maybe its a seal somewhere??!! Otherwise the cabin would be quiet..... Plenty of room for the kids in the back. The cons so far are, The rear liftgate is very heavy to close manually!! Wheel covers on a 23/24K vehicle?! really?! I bought it for the rebate offered but should have paid more for the XLE with upgrades. I appreciate the reliability factor and hope that the trade in value holds up before the factory warranty is up because I plan on trading it in before this....Thanks for reading..

I purchased a brand new 2014 Toyota Rav4 XLE in March of 2014 at the Woburn, MA Toyota dealership. After trying many different cars, I continued to feel strongly about buying another toyota since I had Toyotas previously. This past week, my stereo/navigation/bluetooth head unit stopped working when I started my car up one day. At first I thought it was reloading or updating, but then it would go dark and repeat the fake reloading cycle over and over. I immediately read up online and tried to fix it. However, my hopes faded more when I saw all of the reviews written about people having this issue with their new Toyotas. It seemed that not only a lot of people are having this problem, Toyota is not offering any help. Regardless, I made an appt with the same dealer I bought it from in hopes that my experience will be different. Not only did they tell me that they would have to replace the whole unit which would cost about $2-3K, they also attempted to charge me $70 dollars for servicing despite me being very clear up front that I would like to be informed before they did anything that would potentially cost me. The only positive was the very honest and attentive representative I dealt with. To summarize: 4 year old Rav4 that cost about $30,000 that now I ride around in silence, using my Iphone for directions, and needing to take hands off the wheel to make any phone calls. Then, dealership tries to get $70 despite a customer who appropriately made it clear they wanted to be informed if anything the tech did was going to cost them. An hour and a half waiting for them to just start the car and stare at the dashboard. No need to open the hood or jack the car up. I will never ever buy a Toyota again and have informed my sister of all of these issues since she was planning on leasing a Toyota from that same dealership. I'm a daughter of a carpenter and teacher who worked hard through nursing school and now working even harder as an ER nurse in Boston. I was very proud of my Rav4 and even prouder to have finally paid it off last week. I'm writing this review because there are lots of other hardworking people like me who should not have to pay thousands of dollars for a 4 year old radio. Car maintenance and upkeep is expected, but this, as well as the way I was treated at the dealership, is unacceptable. UPDATE: After about a month and multiple phone calls I received an apology from both Toyota and the dealership as well as a new radio/head unit replaced. Thank you Toyota for making this right. My advice to other people, call Toyota up directly if you want to get anywhere and expect to go back and forth for awhile as well as make it known to the leaders of the dealership. Thank you again.

I’ve gone back and forth between owning either a Toyota or Honda. But with the 0% financing + 2 yrs. free scheduled maintenance, the RAV was the best choice. It’s roomy, smooth and feel super safe with the safety features. I bought the XLE model even though I wanted heated seats. The cloth interior felt warm enough. It’s the right size for me, very comfortable and easy to drive.

My family wanted me to buy , for safety, (we live in Massachusetts on the ocean ) , a AWD / 4wheel drive car. Every 10 years or 100,000 plus miles I buy a new car. This is my 4th Toyota ; always XLE Camary. So here it is ,not a Camary XLE but a RAV4 Platinum. I like the car and how it rides and how you sit high. I enjoy driving it at age 71 and single, I feel safe in it and is easy to get my golf clubs in and out also great when you go grocery shopping. Great for parking and getting in and out of for driver and passengers. I am now what one calls a "snow bird" and driving my friends car in Florida and missing my SUV back in Massachusetts but soon we will be together on the New England roads.

My 2011 Rav4 was hit and had to go to the body shop. The other driver's insurance paid for me to get a rental car and I drove a 2018 Rav4 for 3 weeks. It was a very enjoyable experience all around. The interior was roomy and comfortable. I enjoyed the backup camera which was very clear and the tech was adequate. My only complaint was the gas mileage was pretty average (was getting 21 MPG combined city/highway). Highly recommended, Toyota is the best.

Not everyone has a smart phone or is efficient in using it. I had a ‘15 and GPS use was an easy touch screen. I’m 81 years old and not proficient in smart phone use. So I’m buying a Touch screen GPS to use. There should be options, not forced to use Scout app.

I traded in my 2017 Corolla LE for my new to me "Certified Preowned" 2018 Toyota RAV4 XLE. While I liked my Corolla, the RAV4 is a much better choice for me. In my opinion, the styling of the my RAV4 is way better than the new model. I love the interior. Dashboard is clean and well designed. Seats and the ride are very comfortable. I'm a fan of the many safety features Toyota includes in all their vehicles as standard equipment. The keyless entry system works well. The power operated tailgate is a bit slow but works well. Unfortunately, the headlights are halogen and not LEDs as my 17' Corolla. I have taken a few trips in my new for me RAV4 and I am so pleased with the quietness, ride, and overall solid feel of the SUV. The 4cyl engine has enough power for this SUV. My fuel economy is approx 26-27 MPG overall on city driving. I do 30-32 MPG on the highway on cruise control set at 70MPH. The 6 speed automatic transmission work very well. My RAV4 color is shinny Silver outside and all black interior. I love the paint quality and how shines when freshly washed. As negatives, I have 2 complaints. First is the radio unit. I have the CD player unit with XM radio but no navigation. The Bluetooth constantly drops and keeps disconnecting my phone while I am on a call. I've read online that this is a known issues with Toyota's radio units. This sound system is weak with low bass and volume power compared to my previous Corolla. Also, I have a XM free trial active and whoever designed this radio should be fired. How can you have XM radio and no way to scroll through the stations from the steering wheel controls? I have to stretch my arm all the way to the tuning knob on the head unit to scroll through hundreds of channels while trying to drive. And my second complaint is the front windshield. I don't know what "material" or "coating" they use on the outside of the RAV4 but it is impossible to keep the windshield clean and dry. I apply RainX on all my vehicles and this is the first time I see that water just "stays" and doesn't repel. I got new wipers and fresh coat of RainX and the water just moves side to side and smears all over the glass. I keep using the wipers and it never gets dry. Always leaves a film and streaks of water. Very weird and not sure how to fix this. In conclusion, I am extremely happy with my purchase. My Toyota dealer in Orlando FL was great and I recommend this RAV4.

Can't go wrong with any Toyota, but my Rav 4 is just perfect for me. Puttin around town will drop your M.P.G. but on a vacation run of about 800 miles we got appx. 38 M.P.G. this was 2 people and using the Economy Mode. One thing (and it's minor) was that my model XLE did not come with LED driving lites. there on the vehicle as a decoration. Toyota safety is at the fore front. but they struck out with this miss.

Just splurge a little more and get a Lexus

Bought a new 2018 le rav 4 to replace my 2010 rav 4 that i had purchased new . Gas mileage is worse in the 2018 rav 4 and both have the same 4 cyl engine. the new 6 speed transmission is terrible . The transmissions performance alone is enough to keep me from every buying one again, revs too high at times to shift when accelerating. the safety features are much too twitchy and distracting to the driving experience. I would not buy again and this was the 5th toyota in my family .

My Rav 4 leaks from the seals on lower door panels. This I not just moisture but streams of water running down lower doors , after windy rains storms. I went back to Toyota dealer at least 3 times, had pictures to show them. They continued to say this is normal. Factory rep came out and came to same conclusion that water streaming down doors is normal. I am so disappointed in Toyota and their response. This is not normal. I owned a Honda CR-V before this and overall Honda was a much better quality vehicle. The main reason I did not buy Honda seats were not that comfortable. Please use caution if buying a 2018 Rav 4

The Rav4 is a good value for the price. It is also good on reliability. Toyota has worked a lot on the comfort of the ride (chassis). I could tell a big difference as compared to my last Rav4, a 2013 model. I have had several compliments on my vehicle's color. It is called Majestic Aqua. The car appears to be different colors. In the shade, it looks like a dark blue to black. In bright sun, it appears as a lighter blue, with flecks of green to aqua!

This is my 3rd Toyota! My family, including extended family have all owned/ still own Toyota’s and we love them, for me, going with the RAV4 was a no brainer, I also show and breeed dogs, this SUV will get me and my 3 dogs, along with luggage, crates, table and everything else that goes along with it, dog shows can be indoor or outdoor at parks/ horse arenas so the found isn’t always pavement, I know my Rav is up for the challenge!! Bottom line, this car is amazing. I highly suggest getting this and at the very least take it for a test drive!!

I'd been looking at the Rav4 for a couple years. I went to the Auto Show when it came to Denver, looked at all the cars, and thought the Rav4 was the best value of any car at the show. It was also more desirable than the CRV, and I'm a Honda guy. I liked the idea of the hybrid, as we do use the car as a daily driver, so the boost in MPG helps. It's a good vehicle to own in Colorado on bad weather days. There's room to haul stuff. It's comfortable, very smooth for road trips. We had a Pilot previously, but don't need the third seat any more. We like it. It's meet out needs nicely.

Purchased our 2018 RAV4 Limited this year. With only 5000 miles suddenly a crack appeared in the windshied on the passenger side. Had not felt nor heard anything impacting the windshield. Took it to dealer. I was told it had been impacted up near the molding at the top of the window. I could not feel the crack on the outside nor the inside. I feel it was a defective windowshield. Was told to notify my insurance co. I reported it to our insurance and they contacted safelite to replace the windshield. It has been 3 weeks now and safelite tells us that the windshield is on backorder from Toyota.. 3 WEEKS?????? What could possible be the holdup??????? I've always had good service from Toyota but this is ridiculous. How can anything be on back order for 3 weeks. At this time, I'm really disappointed with Toyota. The crack is now grown from about 6 inches to now about 29 inches. Traveling across the glass.. Ralph Wertz

Very disappointed with Toyota. Although the Rav4 has all the new safety alert features, it's audio alert sound is so shy (volume is so low) that you can't even hear the alert. For example, Lane Departure alert sound is so low, you can't hear it. I don't even have the radio on. The Camry and Corolla alerts are so loud , you can hear them with no problem. What's wrong with the engineering ? Then the Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) system doesn't have a audio alert. It just blinks/flashes if you're trying to switch lane when a vehicle is next to you. Toyota really needs to learn from my Mazda CX-5 features. The audio sound (loud enough) really alerts you when a vehicle is next to you if you're trying to switch lanes. I bought the Rav4 XLE version (almost $28,000 sticker price), it doesn't come with powers seats or illuminated buttons for windows and door locks. Another disappointment. Overall, Rav4 does not deserve a 5 star rating, not when Toyota start cutting corners.

All in all this is a great SUV for small family looking for safety features...The technology is all here and above the rest because most of it is Standard Equipment. I am sorry the fuel tank is not bigger ...thats a bad thing ...you feel like your using more gas because you go to the gas station more it seems... MPG is what they say , but the tank is 13 gallons only... I had all the big suv's and since kids older & moved out we don't need a Highlander or a Grand Cherokee type SUV. If you tow a boat you do not want a Rav 4... if you drive off Road and on the Beach maybe not either... I had Jeeps (lots of them) and I feel better in the Toyota. Why the Blizzard color cost more money is not understood by me at all. I have 2 RAV4's now and I went to Sunrise Toyota North to lease this car and so far they all help full. Cliff and Greg made it enjoyable. 18 inch wheels were important to me on the Limited..

Who designed the cruise control?

I liked the looks. I liked the interior. BUT, when I tried to get comfortable and set the drivers seat to where I like the cruise control jammed me in the thigh. Who puts a cruise control in the 5-O-clock position on a steering column behind the wheel? DEAL BREAKER! Not to mention the dealer itself was very shady with it's advertising and pricing. (Gatorland Toyota) Another deal breaker.

This is from a test drive. I decided to give this a chance based on reviews and reliability scores. There were definitely some good things. For instance, I thought the front seats were comfortable. The acceleration is completely adequate and it maneuvers fine. It had the best rear cargo area of all the SUV's I tested. The low lift height is great if you have heavy objects to load. Safety features like lane assist worked as tested. Now on to the negatives- 1)Engine Noise and Transmission shifting-I just didn't like the shifting on the transmission. The vehicle whined and IMO reached too high RPM's for the gears, it was quite noisy. Louder than any other vehicle I've test driven this year (Ford, Chevy, and Hyundai for instance) 2)Technology-besides the safety features it was a let down. The info center is very dated and the radio was mediocre. The LE only had one USB port while just about any other SUV will have three times as many. Unfortunately I don't think the Toyota powertrains and interiors are for me. This will probably be the last time I give them a chance.

I purchased this car new in Feb. 2018. Since driving everyday, I have noticed the quality of this car. Dash board is cheap plastic, so are the doors, console..just about everything is hard CHEAP plastic on the inside. The sun visors are like cardboard covered with a thin plastic. The black nylon seats are horrible...everything clings to them, and they are uncomfortable as all hell.... started hearing a noise when i make a left turn, almost a thumping sound..will be taking it in shortly for that. I am VERY disappointed with the quality of this interior... i am sorry that i purchased this car... should have bought the Subaru Forester!!!! Take your time and give this car a good look over before buying a Toyota Rav4....
