Review

bought toyota after my husband had his
truck for 18 years and he bought it
used. it didn't cost us anything. i
had a ford exploder with acutaly did
explode. bought toyota after much
research. i am happy with this
vehichle although i too have had
problems with stereo (had to be
replaced), check engine light, rattle
in my back door (took a year to be
fixed finally) and other small
things. I have had it 3.5 years and i
would buy it again. I just hope the
reliability I reasearched comes
through for me till the end. Definetly
go for the 5spd

Review

The car is great to drive. It handles
exceptionally and is actually quite
high off the ground.

Best Features

The turning radius.

Worst Features

Better factory sound system, and offer factory leather.

Review

If you want a speed/handling, car-based
SUV with very good fuel-economy and the
very best driver's seat-comfort/support,
the newer-model-year RAV4 is far ahead
of the rest of 'em. Toyota has a
penchant for the best and the brightest
cars/SUVs and trucks. This one again
makes its nearest competitors, Ford's
Escape/Mazda's Tribute into also-rans.

Best Features

The 4-banger drive-train/suspension give an excellent performance-rating--I've driven closed-course "testing", semi-competively; the RAV4 was the best.

Worst Features

Make the RAV4 have more carrying-weight than the present 750 lb. "limit".

Review

I traded my 2000 Honda Civic in on this
one in Dec of 2000 for the new rav4. I
was highly impressed before I even
bought it, especially with the way cool
interior design. Afte buying, this car
has blown me away with its reliability:
I currently have 107,000 miles over 3
yrs, kept up with oil and maintenance,
and the only problem I have had is
replacing the brake pads twice total.
Nothing else has gone wrong, and it has
been unthinkably dependable. When you
take out the back 2 seats, you've got
more storage room than a Land Cruiser.
Outstanding overall

Best Features

Interior design, location of the cup holders both front and back, ease of the sunroof, location of power outlets, sunglasses holder under the steering wheel (I agree with the other review that says I find something new in there about every 2-4 weeks)

Worst Features

More power is the #1 issue. Brakes for mine have been fair to poor; I kept getting a lot of loud brake noise andhad to replace them twice. Gas mileage is ok on the highway (about 25- 26), but city is poor (about 20-22).

Review

The RAV 4 is a really great car. While
the road noise is a bit louder than it
should be, everything else about the
car makes it worth the purchase. It is
very dependable, easy to control and
fun to drive. Everywhere I go, people
are commenting on what a sharp looking
car it is. I bought this for my
daughter, but would definitely purchase
one for myself if I was looking for a
SUV.

Best Features

Tight steering, and great look.

Worst Features

Softer seats, slightly more inclined in the back.
