2002 Toyota Prius Sedan 4dr Sedan (1.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)

Review

The car is very reliable, no repair
problems. It gets plenty of pickup
for daily trips over the mountians.
The heavy wind does pose a stability
problem, as it gets buffeted around.
Also, the tires are a little unstable
on bad pavement, causing the car to be
squirely.

Best Features

It has a quiet ride, I really enjoy the engine shutting off at red lights, so there is no roar. The turn radius is great, and has a good peppy pick up.

Worst Features

The paint is easily scratched, and the tires ride a bit unstable so there is a lot of steering required.

2002 Toyota Prius Sedan 4dr Sedan (1.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)

Review

My husband and I both drive a 2002
Prius and will never own a different
make or model. It's evenly weighted,
easy to drive, and really does get 50+
miles to the gallon. The gas crunch
has not been a concern for us! It has
a smooth, quite ride with a huge
interior. Four adults really can be
comfortable inside. We've had nothing
more than routine maintainence since
their purchase. Even here in the
mountains we have found no problems
with power. It is the families car of
choice for long trips. It's a great
car even for people who aren't
conservation minded.

Best Features

Roomy interior, touch screen controls, gas mileage graph, ability to sneak up on drive-thru windows without them hearing car and surprising them, ability for car to run on battery only (which is completely silent) and watch people stare at the silent car.

Worst Features

Wish it had come in a hatchback in 2002.

Review

After 14 months the mileage began to
fall and the dealer claims to find no
problem. Mileage has never matched
what the computer says, off
consistently 2 to 5 miles, more
lately. I got consistent 46 mpg first
14 months, more on long straight
drives, then it fell to 23 mpg for a
month, then gradually climbed back up
to about 30. Climate control also
stopped working efficiently. Mostly I
like the car, but will switch to Honda
this year as the dealer seems
uninterested in the strange drop in mpg.

Best Features

Computer screen, controls in middle instead of in front of driver - took getting used to, now I like it.

Review

Very pleased with car. Good gas
mileage at 46.7mpg(owned 79 rabbit
diesel)much greeneer than other car.
Have tire problems now and needs
alignment, warranty good for one free
alignment up to 20,000. Have 24,000 on
car now. Made mistake not looking at
warranties closer.

Best Features

computer screen with mpg listed. Makes lead foot little lighter.

Worst Features

Would like gear sift moved or switches behind the lever moved.

Review

Fun to drive, drove from Michigan to
Florida for $50.26! Very comfortable
car

Best Features

Cheap on gas, comfortable, and fun to drive!

Worst Features

Car needs armrest in the middle, lights in glove box & by the outside mirror adjustments. Also, we don't use our headlights as other drivers flash their brights at us. Had it into the dealership, can't adjust, we use only the driving lights now, still get flashed by other drivers.
