2004 Toyota Highlander SUV Fwd 4dr SUV w/3rd Row (3.3L 6cyl 5A)
I've had a Civic, CRV and Accord and
have always been a devout owner as
Hondas have always had outstanding
reliability, resale value, and
workmanship... After researching into
the Pilot and Highlander, I chose
Toyota for the first time.
Here's why: For the same amount of
money here's what you get that Honda
doesn't give you: A power moonroof,
side curtain airbags, vehicle stability
and traction control, and a true 4x4
drive (Pilot has AWD up to 20 mph, then
switches to front wheel which senses
spin and then kicks in torque to rear
wheels if needed).
Toyota's reliablility, quality and
resale should be as good as Honda's,
from all the research I've done.
Ride - it feels like a car. Engine
powerful, absorbs bumps on roads
easily, nice steering response. For
those intimidated by large size of some
SUV's - this one is just right - big
enough with 3rd row seats when needed,
but not too big to be unable to
manuever into parking spaces.
Interior and exterior fit and finish
are excellent. Only improvement is
moonroof design - needs a close switch
indicator. Also flutters like a
helicopter if opened without opening a
crack in front side windows.
Mileage could be improved, but with a
true 4x4 and V6, seems reasonable.

This was my first new car in 10 years.
Didn't know I could love a car this
much! Looked around for a long time to
find the right car. This was it.
Absolutely no problems and drives like
a dream. Seems like the vehicle was
designed just for me. Everything is
exactly where it should be (at my
fingertips). Ride is so smooth.
Wonderful in the snow and slush of
Upstate NY. Plan on keeping this
vehicle a very long time!
Thanks Toyota for designing and
building a car for all of the Moms who
have outgrown the mini van.
Instrument panel is very user
friendly. Everything is right there.
This is an SUV that rides like a luxury
The speedometer could be a bit easier
to read at night and when wearing
sunglasses. A little better gas
mileage would be nice, but on balance
it is still pretty good.

I especially like the way the front
seat fits my lower back. This is the
2nd one I've bought for this reason.
The car also feels very safe and is a
good size for a woman who enjoys
driving an suv, travels between two
states frequently, and hauls many
things. Also the gas mileage is good
for an suv, I think 21+ depending on
where I am.
