Toyota emerges from the smoke.
By Ray on
Vehicle2011 Toyota Camry 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl 6A)
ReviewToyota just got raked through the coals with the "sudden acceleration/sticking gas pedal" debacle in Feb/Mar, 2010, and as was the case with Audi in the 90's, much of the blame falls on errant drivers and not the cars themselves. Audi nearly went bankrupt because of it; Toyota should emerge OK, but has had to drastically cut prices and offer incredible deals to win back the favor of buyers. This allowed me to lease my 2011 Camry (base) automatic for an amazing $210/mo (including tax, license) with zero drive-off costs! Folks, get 'em while they're being generous. It's a beautiful car, with loads of space, comfort and value for the money. Just stick to your guns when dealing :)
Best FeaturesBeautiful exterior design (better looking than my last Lexus GS300 and half the price!), firm but comfortable seats, lots of features even in the base model when compared to the similarly lease-priced Honda Civic DX- VP ($190/mo + tax/license), which was rougher, nosier, cramped and under- powered.
Worst Features4cyl is only just adequate for a car this size. 6-speed auto continually hunts for the proper gear when climbing grades. Bisque (beige) cloth interior shows stains (even water) easily. Steering feedback somewhat numb. Body side molding should be standard to minimize parking lot dings.
