Quiet, comfortable, reliable, good on long trips for driver and passengers. Interior items such as sun shade mirrors, tape player have been problematic. Power roof extremely reliable concerning leaks, operation, etc. Gas mileage in town not good but acceptable. The best large car I have ever owned.
Overall comfort and drivability.
Reconfigure the extra power outlet for cellphone. Flimsy and too small backseat drink holders.
Wife bought new in 1999. The a/c failed at 97k and was expensive to repair. Car has over 122k miles now and still going strong. No major issues. The paint is peeling on the rear spoiler and is faded on the rear bumper. The rest of the car has so many dings and scratches a new coat of paint would be nice. But, then again, it is almost eight years old. Factory CD player skips a lot but the radio still sounds good. Driver door cloth is peeling in one spot. Overall, a very good car, and best of all it's paid off and we hope to keep it a few more years.
Great gas mileage, simple dash layout, interior materials don't look cheap.
I bought this car new and have put 190,000 trouble free miles on it. It does not even burn any oil between changes. I have done just the routine maintenance and replaced wear and tear items as needed. A few signs of age have cropped up lately, notably bad valve stem seals and front upper strut plates, but who can complain after nearly 200,000 miles? Get that kind of service from an American car? Doubt it.
Gas mileage. Still get 30 with mixed hwy/local, 35 on trips. Air conditioning still blows nice and cold. Overall mechanical reliabillity.
The 6 way power driver's seat offered poor thigh support until it became molded to my form after a couple of years. I notice this is still an issue with Toyota products to this day.
We purchased this Camry new believing it would be a great car for many years. The last two cars we owned, we have for about 10 years each. Beginning within a few months of ownership we have had the following problems: front and rear struts replaced twice, transmission replaced, transmission speed sensor replaced twice, air sensor replaced along with MANY other irritating minor things. Toyota is OFF our list for future purchases! And yes - we have followed the suggested maintenance schedule!
