2004 Toyota Camry Solara Coupe SE 2dr Coupe (2.4L 4cyl 5M)

Review

First of all, owning the new bodystyle solara has been a quite big difference than the other mid-size cars I'm typically use to. It's built stronger and rides much better than other cars in its price range, but the horsepower needs much improvements for its price. The car is beautiful once you add the right rims to it, but otherwise boring looking without them. The car furthermore caters to an older (30-40) traditional type driver verses a younger more enthusiatic sports tuned driver. On a whole, the car is very nice to drive and has a lot of room to offer for a family of five to fit comfortably without any cramping in the back.

Best Features

Interior, Dashboard, and Back sitting room.

Worst Features

Horsepower. Too many other vehicles give you more power for the same price or less even though they're uglier.

2004 Toyota Camry Solara Coupe SE Sport V6 2dr Coupe (3.3L 6cyl 5A)

Review

Nice car good power, not good in snow or ice. Feels sporty, however it's a sporty upscale look but handles like the Camry sedan. Make no mistake, it's not a sporty handling automobile. May have been better with rear wheel drive for handling. Doors, very big to get in and out of tight spots, however nice roomy interior for the driver and front pax. back seats are good for avg. person but not on long hauls. Good room for kids.

Best Features

Nice style look. Turns heads, nice interior. Good power for V6. Very Lexus look for the Toyota price. Also nice Lexus engine.

Worst Features

Stereo system must be mounted on foam to prevent plastic vibration with speakers also, might handle better with rear wheel drive. Back tends to sway to easy in wind or rain and not good at all in snow or ice. Maybe regular size tires then the sporty 16 or 17 inch. for better handling.

2004 Toyota Camry Solara Coupe SE 2dr Coupe (2.4L 4cyl 5M)

Review

After having this 5M 2dr SE sport for 18 months, I found the combination of its fuel efficiency and power was just ideal. This is my 15th car and I am pretty happy with 33-34 mpg on highway and acceleration after 40 mph. It runs like >200 HP on highway with a regular 2.4L 4-cyl engine. I had no problem since I got in Feb 2004.

Best Features

Large body and trunk, quiet/smooth drive, fuel efficiency comparing with its power, and 215/55/17R tires.

Worst Features

No need to add soft high-grip performance tires that wears out fast.

2004 Toyota Camry Solara Coupe SE Sport 2dr Coupe (2.4L 4cyl 5M)

Review

After driving it for 14k miles, I'm now not so excited, but still satisfied with it. The only complaint besides the rear blind spots, is the original front tires worn out at 13k miles. It's fun, fast, stable, beautiful, and comfortable on the road. Very good for a V4. We like it.

Best Features

It's sport suspension and style.

Worst Features

Stronger engine and 5-speed auto transmission for the V4 model.

2004 Toyota Camry Solara Coupe SLE V6 2dr Coupe (3.3L 6cyl 5A)

Review

Sexy car, but with several problems. Been in shop four times within 11,000 miles, and two more times since then at 16,000 miles. Pulls to the left, BIG blind spot to the right rear, rattle in the dash and the 3.3 V6 has a hesitation at low speeds when you give it gas that has almost got me hit (Toyota claims that it was designed that way). Hood is magnet for rocks and paint is inferior. All of these issues can be found on the Toyota Owners boards and on the complaints section of the NHTSA website.

Best Features

Sharp looks, very nice interior

Worst Features

Don't put a car out that hesitates and shifts that bad, better paint on the hood, fix the rattles and don't act like Toyota's can't be junk, because this one is!
