My 1999 Solara SE V6 is a WONDERFUL car! For a first car, I thought it was too nice for me! I love the roominess of the two front seats and even the back seats. The sunroof is awesome and I love the one touch button that opens/closes or tilts it! Since this car is a Toyota, it´s going to be very reliable. I absolutely love the HUGE trunk! Everything is running smoothly with this car and my little sister can´t wait ´til she can drive it when I pass it down to her.
Sunroof/Trunk Space/ Reliability/ Luxurious Int. and Ext./Audio/Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel/Everything!
Nothing really, the only thing I don´t like is how the gas goes pretty fast! That´s just because I got a V6 though...and I drive a lot of miles to school every day!
What a wonderful car! I bought a 99' SLE with 60K and in 2 years i have had no problems, it now has 140K and the only thing i have done is change the oil every 3k and the brakes once. I didnt even bother with the timing belt. No problems!!! The check engine light is on and its because of the back oxygen sensor heater, there are like 6 banks and one is bad, but the thing is i probably get better gas mileage because of it. Any how its a wonderful car! Toyota ROCKS!
I bought my 1999 Solara in April of
2003 and haven't had any major problems
with it. I've seen a lot of different
reviews on here and some are accurate
whereas others I can't understand. The
interior is pretty straight forward,
don't expect some crazy/flashy foreign
interior. The ride is very smooth and
it has decent power, but nothing huge
compared to other coupe's. I have had
issues with the struts, but I'm from
Michigan. We have the worst roads in
the entire country! Fuel economy is
average, not as good as I expected from
a Toyota, but overall I've been VERY
happy with my purchase. I have yet to
fix a single thing on the car and I'm
approaching 76,000 miles on it.
I found it to handle very smooth.
Brakes are not the greatest, but I am a
late braker and some of the fault may
be my own. Good acceleration,
comfortable seats (and I am a bigger
guy, 6'-1", 260lbs).
Better stock radio, I installed an
Alpine CD player immediately.
Improvments on the struts, they do
sound very clunky and sound busted a
lot of the time. The newer models have
a larger engine which is nice, the car
has decent power, but nothing compared
to models in the same class.
