2026 Toyota bZ Woodland

As you probably gathered from its name, the Toyota bZ Woodland is based on the regular Toyota bZ. It's virtually identical, in fact, just slightly longer, with a higher rear roofline, and a single drivetrain layout. An additional 0.2 inch of ground clearance, available all-terrain tires and standard black plastic fenders (now only available with certain colors on the regular bZ) are nods to the outdoorsy nature implied by the Woodland moniker, but this EV is geared toward on-road use.

You get more choices with the regular bZ, but all the better ones are already made in the Woodland. The bZ's larger optional battery pack and available all-wheel drive are standard in the Woodland, and the latter SUV's two motors generate a combined 375 horsepower against the bZ's 338 hp. The Woodland is nearly 6 inches longer than the bZ, although that doesn't net any additional rear-seat legroom. Instead, it's all aft of the rear roof pillar, expanding the cargo hold from the bZ's 27.7 cubic feet to 33.8 cubes. The longer, flatter roofline does, however, give rear passengers 1.3 more inches of headroom. The Woodland departs from Toyota's standard trim-level naming convention, but the base and Premium Woodlands have all the same content as the bZ's XLE Plus and Limited trims.

There are multiple alternatives to the Woodland built on the same platform. Beyond the regular bZ, the Subaru Solterra and Trailseeker are identical EVs wearing different branding. But the bZ Woodland's stiffest competition comes from outside of the Toyota/Subaru developmental partnership. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Tesla Model Y are our favorite vehicles in this class. The Ioniq 5's Kia EV6 twin and the Ford Mustang Mach-E are also highly appealing.
