2006 Toyota Avalon XLS 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl 5A)

Review

Bought in Jan 06 and have logged 8,000 miles. Car still performing great. The MPG is incredible! Averging 26 mi. city and just under 31 mi. highway, and the best things is it takes regular unleaded (87 octane). Smooth and quiet ride on the highway. You have to be carefull with the smooth ride though, if not paying attention you can be flying at low altitude and not know it (until the cops stop you!) Very happy with the car up to now - just barely broken in!

Best Features

As in my first review, the JBL sound system is just great! The A/C multiple setting options is also a great feature - with rear and under front seat vents. MPG results, for a V6 on regular unleaded, is great in this car class.

Worst Features

Toyota needs to do better on the paint job on this car - Toyota's flagship car! Have notice the paint chips very easely and it appears not enough coats of paint were applied. Also, have noticed a little bit of a "jerk" on the CVT transmission at low speeds (0 to 15 mi. range).

Review

Great car, enjoy using the voice activation to control radio, AC and CD player. Nagivation system, takes some time to learn, but it has been great for mapping out points of interest, ie: golf courses, restaurants. Edmunds site was a great help in getting the best price.

Review

Ordered an XLE V6 Camry that was damaged in transit. Didn't want to wait 12 weeks for another Camry, so bought the Avalon. This is a great road car, very comfortable, great mileage-30/31 MPG on the road. All controls & displays are conveniently placed & easy to use. I've driven 5700 miles in 5 weeks & the more I drive it the more I appreciate the quiet comfort, interior convenience, good handling & economical operation it offers. I heartily recommend this car, especially for those who spend a lot of time on the road.

Best Features

Comfort, quiet convenient controls, very economical operation for a car this size.

Worst Features

Put the outside mirror control in a more accesible location. Haven't found anything else to change or complain about.

Review

I went back to a Toyota Avalon after owning a Chrysler 300 for just over a year. The Avolon gets much better gas milage, a smoother ride, just as much if not more leg room in the front and back. The style is still great as well!

Best Features

Dash, front seat areas. Built in map feature handy from time to time.

Worst Features

Continue to improve exterior look/body style to look more like a luxury car.

Review

I believe the GPS system needs improvement (simpler). The driver's seat with its heating/cooling system is not as comfortable as the same seat in my Camry without those features. All in all, I am very pleased with the car.

Best Features

Very good fuel mileage. Responsiveness of engine to emergencies. Quietness and comfort on long trips. Excellent workmanship and general quality.

Worst Features

The GPS system is not as easy to use as those I've experienced in other cars
