2005 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition 4WD 4dr SUV (4.7L 8cyl 5A)

Review

First SUV and man did I make the right decision. Paid $32K for the Sport V8 with black leather, moonroof, JBL system, spoiler, alarm, etc. Doesn't drive like a truck. I drove ML, Xterra, other SUVs before and the 4runner shows that it can corner like a sedan but yet behaves the a truck over hard terrain or rough rodes. Glides over potholes. Never have to worry about flats. The VVTi V8 is very impressive and well worth the lower gas mileage. Smooth powerband though slight delay at 1500 rpm. You can't be shy to step on gas up to 5300 RPM. Fit and finish is typical Toyota. Very quiet ride. XREAS suspension is awesome, noticeable diff w/ SR5.

Best Features

Exterior, hood scoop. VVTi V8, nice controls. plenty of cup holders. double decker cargo system. JBL sound system is very clean, clear & loud. Nice rear window control.

Worst Features

Middle seat of 2nd row sits too high. May be tight for 3 large adults. No power seats. No AUTO window on passenger. Change to Michelin over the Dunlops.

2005 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition Rwd 4dr SUV (4.0L 6cyl 5A)

Review

I finally bought the car I've always wanted. This car is like a truck runs great has great pickup and go when needed. Has enough room for passengers and luggage. Tows well with no problem. I just love it!

Best Features

stability of a large truck but the gas capacity of a small truck.

Worst Features

Can't think of one!

2005 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4WD 4dr SUV (4.0L 6cyl 5A)

Review

If you think you want a 4Runner - You will not be disappointed. For a truck based SUV the 4Runner is EXCELLENT. I could not be happier with it's over all quality, look and capabilities. Compared to the domestics, there is no choice, the resale and reliability more than offset those extra rebates and discounts.

Best Features

Quality and refinement or controls and engine. True Off Road and towing ability. 17 inch wheels and finally doing away with the stupid silver bumber accents for '05.

Worst Features

The rear tailgate is too heavy to close. (You laugh now, anyone who has tried to do it one handed with a load in the other arm, knows what I mean). I would like to have had more availability of the JBL speaker package on the SR5 model.

2005 Toyota 4Runner Limited 4WD 4dr SUV (4.7L 8cyl 5A)

Review

Toyota is "updating" much of its model line this fall, including the 4Runner. I wanted to purchase the '05 before the end of the model year because of its excellent track record and high ratings. I'm sure the '06 will be equally as successful, but there's a lot to be said for acquiring a "classic"! The Limited model is an impeccable amalgam of engineering, design, form and function. Its GX470 Lexus counterpart is a really a Limited 4Runner in disguise! My wife and I love the quiet ride, impeccable safety features and rugged capabilites of the 4Runner. Former owners of a Jeep Grand Cherokee, off-roading capabilities with street manners was a must. We highly recommend this vehicle!

Best Features

Safety features; driveability; reliability; build quality and performance.

Worst Features

fully lit door switches; memory seat settings (coming in '06!)

2005 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition 4WD 4dr SUV (4.7L 8cyl 5A)

Review

Just put 1500 miles on in the first month. Towed my 17 foot whaler to Cape Cod, did not even know the boat was attached. I just moved up from a 97 Tacoma 4x4 and need to get use to the automatic. Great truck, comfortable, quiet, quiet, quiet. Plenty of room for 2 kids, wife and dog. The suspension is tight, the wheels grip well. Great visibility. Wanted a pathfinder off-road - got the V8 Sport for $2000 less, which I think is the best value out there. Paid right around $29K after rebate, still a lot for a vehicle but I know it will last me 7-9 years without a problem, all my other Toyota's have!!!!!

Best Features

1. All Wheel drive 2. V-8 wisper quiet engine 3. x-Res suspension 4. Ride quality 5. Rims and tires

Worst Features

Better option choices, toyota seems to limit these too much. Other than that NONE!!!!
