We have over 175000 miles on and off paved roads including many miles of Los Angeles freeway stop and go driving. Replaced the brake pads/rotors ONCE and have had another $350 repair at about 150K. About the same time the antenna motor stopped working. That's it besides regular service. We will have to replace the clutch at some point but that's because I'm hard on them.
I am a 16 year old high school student whose parents bought me this car last year. It is super reliable and I haven't had to replace or fix anything. It says it should get around 19-22 mpg, but I only get around 17. It is very weak and there is nothing special about this car to me. I do like the looks of it though. I chose this car because I know that being a Toyota, it will last me forever. I have 133000 miles on it and don't plan on getting another car for a long time.
Looks, Reliability, Space, It being a Toyota so I know it will last forever with minimal problems
Better gas mileage, more power, some special features that will make it a little cooler.
I ordered a Highlander (Sport) model with the TRD supercharger in late 1999 and have owned this ever since. It still rides like new, the car looks awesome with the hood scoop. I have not seen a better looking SUV. The newer 4Runners have too much cladding. This body style is very clean looking. Not the most powerful SUV but very quick. You can't beat Toyota reliability. Excluding maintenance costs, I have spent $0 repairs since purchasing the car.
