1997 Nissan Pathfinder XE 4dr SUV

I bought this car used from my uncle with 98,000 miles and ever since I've owned it, it has been nothing but trouble. Replaced the manual transmission and drive shaft $1800. Struts and shocks are so bad the car wobbles as you're driving. The drive shaft has already messed up again just recently as an experienced owner I will never buy another Nissan any make or model.

It is not the struts that cause the pathfinder 'death wobble'. It is the lower trailing arm bushings. These are the 3 feet long bars in the back that sort of resemble traction bars used on old racecars. There are also 1 foot long shorter trailing arms above these. The driver's side upper trailing arm is a pain to remove but the lowers and passenger upper are easy. You will need a good 1/2 inch breaker bar though and an air impact would be handy too. Have the bushings pressed in by a local machine shop and save 1/2 of what the whole bar will cost. But to save time just buying each bar for about $80 each might be best. Then won't need this again for another 100,000 miles hopefully.
