Used 2012 Nissan Murano SUV Consumer Reviews
Glad I buy this
I'm in the market for a Mid size crossover SUV, and end up purchase this lovely model when I nail down between the Lexus RX350 and the Murano. I select the SL model for the leather and the power lift gate. The main reason that I choose this model is the handling and performance. Suspension is stiff enough to handle the curve and it maintain reasonable comfort riding. Nissan do a good job on balancing the suspension for handling & comfort. 3.5 V6 is powerful and I get about 19.5 Hwy with average speed of 70-80. The CVT transmission is one of the best in the market. You feel no gear change at all, just silky smooth. I bet you will get spoil and won't go back to a traditional tranny again.
Sporty and well equipped without the leather!
Purchased the Merlot Red version (2012 was its last year in that color) brand new and was impressed with the standard features with black cloth seating that included power driver and power passenger front seats, dual climate a/c, rearview monitor, dual panel sunroof, fully adjustable steering wheel with stereo and cruise controls built in, alloy wheels (no cheap hubcaps) and can lock all 4 wheels into 50% front/50% rear for better grip in deep snow! Driving impressions are what really sold me on this car because it handled corners well (like a sports car) with no lean at all and the faster you drove the tighter the steering wheel would get which also gave the driver more confidence! Also has a good amount of sound insulation too (which surprisingly keeps out more cold in the wintertime)! It's fairly easy for me to enter/exit! It didn't come with all that annoying shiny piano black plastics that newer cars have now! About the only complaints I have is it's a bit small on cargo space (another foot deeper would have been better), the defroster will only use fresh air, it's hard to see around the side mirrors, the roof line could be a few inches higher, my sensitive eyes didn't like the chrome trim inside (I customized the interior with flat black material soon after I drove it home) no door cup holders (which my 2008 Hyundai Tucson did have), and the shifter goes straight back into low gear (my Hyundai shifted to the left and down from drive position which was a little better)! I heard that a lot of Murano sunroofs have been exploding but at 40,700 miles mine hasn't done it yet and my CVT hasn't had any problems so far! Purchased Pirelli Weatheractive tires that now makes the ride a little less harsh (unlike the OEM Goodyears although they cornered slightly better) which might be a factor in keeping the sunroof from shattering for a longer period of time (just my theory)! In final thoughts, this as well as the 2013's are good years for dependability, but for families with more than one kid on long trips, you might look for something bigger! But since the steering is lighter in town, this would be an ideal car for anyone with arthritis in their hands!
