2010 Nissan Maxima Engine knocking
By Ricky Boby on

2010 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SV 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl CVT)

I bought a 2010 Nissan maxima and every time I fill up the gas tank, the engine start making a knocking noise. But once the tank gets to 3/4 the knocking goes away. I have been putting shell V-Power in my car since the day I got it.

I work for a company that makes fuel delivery systems for most of the major auto manufacturers around the world (we do some work for Nissan but not on the Maxima.) 2 suggestions for you if this ever happens for you or anyone else. Have your vehicle's engine management computer checked (bad connection at the wiring harness, bent/broken pins, bad motherboard, etc.) Next thing is try to make sure to use a Tier 1 fuel with no ethanol in it if you can. I would also recommend adding some Techron by Chevron Fuel system cleaner to an empty tank and then filling it up. You may have a bad sensor.
