Bought new in 1999. 135,000 miles to date. Very few problems. Usual maintenance. Have original muffler and brakes. Not the greatest pickup performance and uses more gas due to the cab it carries on back. But can't complain mileage. Have owned Toyota, Mitsubishi and Mazda models. This Nissan has been by far the best!
Comfortable. Reliable. Holds road well for long trips.
Always could use better gas mileage. Don't like that one needs to change locks for 4x drive.
This truck has exceeded my expectations, A new purchase and have enjoyed very mile. only issue has been, battery replaces at 4th year, leaking a/c hose replaced compressor to top of condenser, new tires after 5th year and heat shields on exhaust removed (they began to rattle) due to some corrosion. I am not planning on getting rid of anytime soon. too much plastic in the front grill and fascia on the new one I will wait for a nicer design. I like its towing capacity, I have taken it from philadelphia to montreal several times with a fully loaded trailer, perfomance was good. the cruise control light, dimmer, and radio controls are a bit out of view on this model. overall I love it.
overall look, rugged yet stylish, does not look like a red necks ford or a lumbering chevy. The amount of plastic on wheel well extensions and front bumper on this model is plenty, the new models look to cheap.
i saw a more chiseled design (concept) in a magazine, that would be the direction to go with the body, the other improvement can come in the way of storage maybe under the rear seat, and a little less wind noise.
Purchased new December 1999. Currently has 93,000+ miles. K&N air filter increased the gas mileage by about 1.5 mpg. 18.5 mpg city / 20.5 highway. Recall on the exhaust manifold in the first year. Left rear window started dragging 2005. ($250-) Replaced Front brake pads at 45k and 90k miles. Surprisingly competent off road, and in the snow. Original tires lasted 72k miles. Rear bumper $400, taillight $115. Truck doesn't feel 6 years old. No squeaks or rattles. I drive it on rough logging roads regularly. I'll probably keep it for another 5 or 6 years and consider another Nissan. It has a surprising amount of articulation in the suspension and is really fun off road. Leer Canopy is great.
The ABS is awesome. 4wd low and high, limited slip all work really well. Fun truck off road.
ABS doesn't work when you are sliding backwards down a snow covered hill. A bench seat up front would make the vehicle feel less claustrophobic. I want 30 mpg.
Bought truck used in 2001 with 27k miles. Now has nearly 102,000 miles. Still going strong. Back seat does not have a lot of leg room, but is great for short adults or kids. I added a roll-n-lock bed cover to use for covering luggage on family trips. Rear cup holders are good with kids in back. My daughter is learning to drive and likes this better than our car.
Truck looks sharp when clean and ride is good for a truck. Cruise control is great on highway. Everything on it still works. Short bed still has plenty of room for most anything I've wanted to put in the back, especially with bed extender on it.
Engine could stand more power and would like better fuel economy around town. Did get 24 mpg on a mostly interstate trip one time.
Two years ago I moved up to the foot hills of Saramento and ever since it has been overheating. No one has been able to solve it dealer or private machanic. Heavy on gas and has NO power. Body very tinny.
