We purchased a 1994 Nissan Altima GXE brand new of '94. I kept the car until my children graduated college sure miss my car it lasted 350,000 + miles. I used my father's Chrysler 300 (2008 model) but nothing liked my Altima when comes to dead heat in reliability when kids had it in school. Took many trips it got very good fuel economy between 28-30mpg highway as my children went back and forwards to college. One of the children had a wrecked doing heavier snow storm in (2010) luckily that little car protected our daughter she got out without a scratch we did get it repaired but didn't look too well after the crashed as had too get stuff fixed as - Wheel bearing: Strut: Oil sensor and steering rack due to oil leak from accident. It was a comfortable car had lots of room me and my boys are tall we had enough headroom as trunk was huge for subcompact car. One thing about those gen Altima's hated were spending a fortune getting hubcaps replace as other owners were experiencing otherwise had a bulletproof engine ran awesome. Electronics: Air conditioning: Radio: Controls: Door doors/Cruise control: still had worked great before sold off car. The tranny shifted smooth never had no indicator lights except O/D: Light malfunction other than that our little Altima ran like a top changed oil and tire rotation at 3,500 miles never experienced bad with vehicle even my children drove many miles through mountains etc. I would buy another Nissan but they are using CVT in all new models these cars are dependable never die easily can sleep on it. We traded a 1988 Chevy Corsica for that car due needed bit room space our first Nissan done us well plus used commuting lots of trips. Loved my Altima if could do it all over again would buy another first generation model in a heartbeat reason got rid of it because high miles and keeping up maintenance as having lots of miles the car would've needed few repairs as got aging with 350,000 + miles. Only problems had were minor: CV joints: Brakes: Distributor cap: Alignment: Struts: Hub bearings: Ignition coil: Alternator and Starter: The interior held up well for a 21 year old car no problems out of anything mechanical it lasted forever handled well and drove smooth when got it had a lot of power for a four cylinder engine plus averaged 30 miles per gallon on highway absolutely loved our little Altima ran like a top without spending time into a shop was most dependable car ever owned.

i picked this car at the used car dealer. cuz this car has 2.4 motor which bigger than camry and accord. also comes with nice sport style front & rear . first thing i checked under car, no oil leaks at all. so far just pair tires on front, ac belt. got lot of power bottom to top rmp. handles nice brakes just tight. minus: tiny horn button & gas pedal is little bit off to right. my opinion.

I bought a 94 Altima one and a half month ago with 124K on it. I did engine tune up two weeks ago, but the car has broken three times so far (within one month). While I was driving in the street, the car suddenly stopped without any sign. That is dangerous. The first time, it had about 2 gallon gas, someone refilled the gad tank, and tried hard to start, and it finally worked. The second time was in the evening, the car stopped with 5 or 6 gallon gas in it. My friend tried to use cable to jump start it, but failed.

Purchased used in 2000 with 90k miles....traveled all over the western states, replaced clutch at about 150 K. At 230 K plus... my family and I survived a near head-on highway accident. The car is totaled but we all survived. We will buy another Nissan Altima. I am sure the car would have gone another 100 to 200 K for sure. This was our experience...can't speak for the rest. The only continuing issue was a small electrical issue....grounding kept blowing front head lamps every 6 months...mechanic could not find the troubled spot and bulb replacement was always cheaper. Once the radio antenna snapped of...finding a replacement was difficult...regular maintenance was the key.

227K still runs strong. Bought back in 1994 runs just as strong today as it did 17 years ago. Original clutch and just changed original brake rotors last week. Best car I have ever had. Timing chain is getting a little noisy and has a oil leak, but does not drip on the garage floor so its fine.

This thing runs and runs and runs. All you have to do is keep up the general maintanence and this car is great. The exterior clear coat has disappeared. The appearance suffers, but the paint prevents rust. It just looks oxidized. Wax does not help. Car keeps up with traffic for 4cyl. Not great for 2 lane roads though. Fabric and interior have good resistance to spills. Good ride for short commutes, but not really a traveling car if you have the choice. Again though, this car represents good value in its class. I am upgrading to an Infinti I35 to stay in the Nissan family. I've had good sucess with these cars.

I bought this car a few hours before going on a road trip without knowing much about Nissans. The major defects with this vehicle are expected for a car with 150,000 miles and for its age of 11 at the time. It had been very worthy from getting me from point A to point B. Being a delivery driver, this vehicle took the punishment very well.

I own two Honda products in addition to my Altima. While the Nissan, when compared to my Accord and Legend, takes third place in all of the usual catagories (performance, fun to drive, quality, etc) it is still a nice car. The seating position is a little too low, the steering feels slightly magnetic and disconnected, and the manual shifter is a little rubbery. However, the interior is beautiful and the 2.2L motor feels like it has more pull than my Accord.

I bought the car 1.5 years ago and have put 45,000 miles on it!! Everyone that saw it thought that it was almost brand new! (Ages extremely well) It works well in almost any function. (Short trips around town (also been driven across the country). I've replaced the alternator, and Starter. Other than that just change the oil and add gas. Same problems with glove box and cup holders, but they are easy to live with.

I had a Honda Accord that I killed with 242K, so needed a car ASAP. I talked with a dealer I had been in contact with and he suggested this car. I was sceptical but did my homework on it. I liked the findings. I bought without regrets. In 9 months, 30,000 miles later it still runs the same even after I crunched the front a little when rear ending someone. Altimas will always be high on my list that why I just bought a 2000 SE.

Fun to drive but engine stall problem

Almost had serious accident caused by my 94 Altima engine distributor problem in Nov. 2002. The 94 Nissan Altima has high failure rate of its engine distributor. If your car is among those, the distributor could cause the engine to stall ALL of sudden when you are driving. The immediate results will be, the power steering stops working, the foot brake stops working. I had to pull the hand break HARD to avoid a car accident. After spent $550 to replace a new distributor. The car has been running good.

I purchased my Altima new. It has unbelievable mileage on it and I can say this: 861.00 dollars in repairs have been done to this vehicle. Talk about one very dependable vehicle that still has no rust, never garage kept, and is still in awesome shape. Would not hesitate to drive it to California and back. Thanks Nissan for making the best car money can buy. Awesome job well done.

My altima is definitely a great quality car in its class. I've had very few problems, and hope it will keep going for several more years. Wet, dry, hot or cold climates do not seem to put any additional strain on it. Mine is a 4cyl, and the 6cyl would help add power, but the fuel economy has been a blessing.

Fantastic car. 180,000 miles, so far. Replaced the alternator, clutch, fuel pump and a/c compressor, otherwise, just oil changes, tune-up parts, brakes, and tires. Love the reliability. Total of less than $15,000 in purchase price (used) plus repairs. Not bad at all for all the miles.

I'm finally looking to trade-in this car, but only because I want a new car for graduation to start off fresh. It's been very reliable- I got it with 58000 miles on it, had to replace the brakes once or twice, new rotors, some other minor repairs- nothing out of the ordinary. It is fun to drive and extremely easy to park and zip through traffic. I added a spoiler and racing wheels and it looks very nice. The Bose standard speakers are a nice touch. For a 11 year old car, it's pretty decent.

I've had almost no problems with this car beyond the normal maintenance. it's now 11 years old with about 165,000 miles. Oil's leaking from almost all parts of the engine, but no other problems! The most expensive thing I've had to replace that wasnt normal maintenance was the wiper motor. I get about 28 mpg highway. Legs and back are normally uncomfortable after about an hr in it. Power/lighter placement is bad-- right under the cupholder, so your cup ends up resting on whatever you've got plugged in. Trunk opening is weirdly shaped, so sometimes what there's room for inside wont fit through the opening. Styling I think is ugly, but YMMV.

It has a little over 100K on it, and I know that I will be driving this car another 100K trouble-free miles (minus the wear and tear they all will go through) All in all, she's still a kid--well, maybe a teenager.

I bought the car for $1500 with 170,000 miles a year ago. I put 20,000 on it, still runs great. At almost 200,000 miles I still trust it on 300mile+ trips. Its so dependable. I pimped my Nissan Altima with chrome wheels (not over the top, similar to ones offered on late model factory Altimas), and a PolkMOMO sound system. I tore out the rear deck and put new cloth on it so I could display the PolkMOMO speakers, looks AWESOME. I have PolkMOMO decals on windshield and rear window. The interior is AMAZING for 94 model. Good looking dash. The seats suck- After driving more than a few hours on long trips my back hurts. All the upholstry cleans really easily.

My dad got this 1994 Nissan Altima for me when I was 16. That was 7 years ago. Since then, I haven't had too many problems with it, and the ones that I had weren't that expensive. Spark plugs, water pump, catalytic converter to get it to pass emmissions, but that's it. Good ride, good gas mileage, nice interior. I would strongly suggest this car.

I purchased this Nissan about 18 months ago with slightly less than 100K miles on it. The first day I had it the alternator broke. 3 months later the starter went bad. I had a nice break for about 10 months, but after that the distributor broke. 3 months later the alternator broke again. 2 months after I had the alternator fixed, the cables for the alternator broke(this was probably the initial problem when my 2nd alternator went, but I still was charged $300 for a new alternator.) I purchased the car for $4600 and have already put at least $2500 into it in just a year and a half.

I have over 148,000 miles on the clock, and it runs like it is BRAND NEW!! No joke. I also keep the car in mint condition (interior and exterior) and everyone who sees it is amazed at how well the car looks, even after 9 years of being parked outside, driven quite often and going through NYC streets and neighborhoods.

I'm a 16 year old GIRL and I have a 1994 Nissan Altima. It's my first car. Anyway, I love my car because it's MINE. The only problems we've had with it occured when it wasn't in my possession. My sister drove it for about a year before I got my license. Anyway while she had it the cruise control went out, the front CV joints had to be replaced, roters turned, and the break lights stayed on causing the battery to go dead. I think a fuse had to be replaced or something. The paint around the grill is fading so because the car is that funny gold color and can't be matched, I'm going to have to get it painted all over.

I've had my SE for eight years, and although I've had to replace some normal wear-and-tear items (alternator, belts, CV boots, engine mounts), the car has given me consistently good service all this time. The a/c is outstanding! Acceleration is quite good, and the general comfort level is quite nice. It came fully equipped, including power sunroof, fog lights & rear spoiler. Only things missing are leather and power seats. It still has the original radio/cassette, but I did upgrade all four speakers and added a 12-CD changer. Also replaced 15" factory wheels with custom 16" rims. This car is good to go!

We have two GXEs which were purchased new a month apart in 1993. Both have 193,000 plus miles. Although several parts have been repaired/replaced (e.g. CV joints, climate control system, A/C condenser, knock sensor, head gasket, engine oil leak (common occurrence) blower motor, both vehicles have serviced us VERY well and have been maintained likewise. We hope to drive the cars until... These Altimas have exceeded our expectations. Regrettably, the newer models are engineered to make the consumer more dealer-dependent for maintenance and repair. People are EXTREMELY surprised at the age of the vehicles (nearly 16 years) because they have retained their new- car appearance.

I bought the car with 123,000 miles on it and it had some rust around the back doors and a few days later the headlight burnt out and it burnt out the wiring and all that and the air bag sensor ship went out, but other than that the sunroof/ moonroof is great. I think the car is very dependable and fun to drive, it gets great gas mileage and it's very easy to take care of. I would highly recommend a 94 altima and i think as long as you take care of it the car will take care of you.
