Underestimated value and dependability-Silverado

2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT 4dr Double Cab 4WD SB (2.7L 4cyl Turbo 8A)
This is not about the TurboMax. This review is on the capable and dependable 5.3 L Silverado. The 2025 Silverado with the 5.3L engine is an overlooked and most often falsely reviewed. The truck is very versatile being great to drive daily, great to tow, and great to haul - the things that you buy a truck to do. Mine is a LTZ that has very comfortable leather bucket seats that are very … adjustable and comfortable on long trips. The technology is go with easy to use Google apps and the old reliable switches for heat and air. The only negative is that the light switch is sorta out of view behind the steering wheel. It is hard to see if you want to turn on fog lamps at night. The Auto light function works great but if you want to operate your lights manually it needs an upgrade and relocation. Fuel mileage is surprisingly good, even with the Z71 package and off-road tires. The real range is anywhere from 17 to 26.4 mpg. All depends on speeds, traffic conditions, terrain, and driving habits. I experienced about 20 to 23 mpg average mixed city / highway driving. Best gas mileage is attained in cruise at 55 to 60 mph. The truck rides great, better that the Ram and F150. It drives better too. It is as quiet or more so than the Ford and Ram. It doesn’t have the take off speed 0-60 of the others in optional trim but is quick enough and powerful enough to closely compete. One comment that I must make is that it is identical except for a few exterior details like grill and taillights to the GMC, sharing the same technology and mechanical features. That being said, add the number of Chevy trucks and GMC trucks sold - the number far exceeds Ford sales. Since the GMC and Silverado are virtually the same truck, more people buying them over Ford F150 proves that most people prefer it over Ford. And, the reliability of the 5.3 can’t be beat. I am glad that I haven’t had to deal with any recalls too. Can Ford owners say the same? Chevy / GMC trucks should be rated number 1 with Toyota and Ram following with Ford behind the lot. And after 1-1/2 years, no recalls!!!! It truly is great truck.
