This little car must have been engineered by the folks in Bavaria. It has withstood the test of time in grand fashion. It received regular service every 3000 miles. Has over 185000 miles and still uses no oil between changes. It's interior has just started to show its age barely. The finish is bright and it is mechanically sound. My wife drove it for ten years and is still not tired of it. We bought a new Kia which sits outside and the '91 Mits is still in the garage. We would sell it but it doesn't cost us anything, and still gets about 42 MPG. I'm impressed, I didn't think it would last but it was well built and well engineered. I will miss it.

    And Still Running Strong

This is the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. It still has the original clutch, radiator, and indestructible hoses, injectors, fuel pump, and struts. My car has 207,000 miles on it so far and it is and still going strong!

    Best vehicle I ever owned!

Best car I ever owned! It was in my life for 24+ years, it ran strong for 190,000+ miles mostly city driving and the only time it failed to start is when the battery was dead. It never overheated, and never leaked any oil whatsoever. I never had to replace a hose, starter, alternator, water pump, etc. Never! I did have all of the belts changed at once when I noticed a few began to show cracks on the underside and I had the a/c recharged then. I got oil changes every 5-6,000 miles and regular tune-ups, kept the coolant and brake fluid levels up, tires rotated and changed, etc. According to my mechanic it was easy to work on and that was evident when I paid for the few repairs it needed. The bumpers were black rubber with foam underliner. I was struck from behind twice while on the freeway, both times I was sitting still in traffic. On one of those occasions I actually heard the car racing towards me from behind and revving its engine while I was sitting still behind a brand new BMW. I put both feet on the brake pedal and braced myself expecting the worse. The person's car that struck mine was traveling a high rate of speed and hit me hard but my Mirage held firm and didn't budge an inch! Not only that but my bumper showed no damage other than a few small scratches. Of course the foam underliner had to be replaced but surprisedly the frame wasn't bent nor was there any rear damage. The second time was by someone in a smaller car who was braking but hadn't come to a full stop so no damage was done. The third time someone ran a stop sign after exiting the freeway and hit my passenger side at the front fender/wheel well. The fender and bumper were replaced as well as all wheel components but once again, no frame damage. That thing was a little tank and saved me from physical harm on more than one occasion. I made the mistake of allowing someone work on it who wasn't certified. I'm almost positive had I not done that I would've gotten at least 50-75,000 miles out of that car. I can't speak for anyone else's experience but with that car, mine was excellent!

    Great little Car

The 1.5L engine ran great for 10 years (150K miles) with no problems. It would run 70 mph with AC at 120 degree day in day out. The cooling system easly handled the hot weather while other cars were dying of over heating. The auto tranny never missed a beat. Routine maintaince (oil belts tires). Amazing what you can get in the hatchback. The only weakness is the drive Boots. They are in a exposed position to road junk. They had to be changed several times over the years due to damage from road junk.
