Review

I ordered this car after 9/11 and
waited un til I did not have to pay a
premium (actually received the car in
10/02). A squeek took a few visits to
fix, but M-B did "everything" to take
care of it. It is a dream to drive --
hard to believe it is so firm, even
with the top down. Absolutely no cowl
shake. A real looker.

Best Features

Perfect fit. Style. Hard-top convertible.

Worst Features

Cannot safely use the cup holders on dash (coffee/soda will spill on car). The CD based navigation system is dated. I am looking at 2005 SL55 and SL600, for more power, even though SL500 has plenty.

2004 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class SL500 2dr Convertible (5.0L 8cyl 7A)

Review

Truly the best engineered car I have
owned. It is my 4th SL. The
convertible hard-top also has a glass
panoramic roof. Highway mileage is
nearly 23 miles per gallon at 8o mph.
The ride firmness is adjustible for
Sunday comfort or serious cornering.
Very quiet with the top down, which is
as often as possible

Best Features

15 seconds from hard top to convertible. Superb sound system. Ventilated and massaging seats. Beautiful burl walnut wood accents. Plenty of power with good fuel economy.

Worst Features

Larger screen for navigation system

2004 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class SL55 AMG 2dr Convertible (5.4L 8cyl S/C 5A)

Review

I just got this car a few months ago,
february 2004, and since the first
test drive, I loved it. I sold a
ferrari 355 to buy this car, and it
was worth it. It is just as fast as
the ferrari, yet infinitly more
civilized, practical, comfortable,
luxurius... This is truly the best car
in the world, fast, comfortable, rolls
royce level of fit and finish.

Best Features

The fact that 1 person made the engine by hand. The convertable hard top makes this a car for all seasons and all reasons. The power. The speed. The handling. The interior. The Quality.

Worst Features

reserve feul light comes on too early, more color choises would be nice, thats all.

Review

I bought this SL500 last summer and so
far it has been a reliable, comfortable
car that also handles like a Porsche. I
am not too sure about the exterior
styling. Some people mistake my car for
an SLK which is a lot cheaper. I don't
know about you, but I hate that!
Otherwise, this is a wonderful sports
car loaded with convenience features
and Mercedes cachet.

Best Features

I love the easy-to-use navigation system that talks to you and the ventilated seats.

Worst Features

I would change the styling so it would look more like an expensive roadster and I would put in larger cupholders. They dont hold a 32oz. coke.
