2026 Mercedes-Benz GLC Consumer Reviews

Solid drive, but so so technology and design
Here the good, the bad and the ugly: Good: extremely solid Germanic feel, reminiscent of the high quality Mercedes Benz of the past. Very quiet. Outstanding Burmeister sound system. The bad: I have been averaging 31 mpg in combined city/highway in conservative driving. At a time of climate change and when a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid gets a combined EPA rating of 39 mpg, this is disappointing (the GLC uses a mild hybrid system, why not a more substantial hybrid like the RAV 4). The MSRP of $61k for the Pinnacle version seems very steep. And why do you get plastic seats at this price point? The interior design looks odd will strangely oval pink illuminated vents, lots of distraction reflections of pink lights everywhere. The classic business class Germanic no nonsense interior design of old is gone. Mercedes now seems more Virgin Atlantic than Lufthansa in terms of style. (I have owned four so far, and am not happy about this.) The ugly: The use of the screen for many controls is outright dangerous. And the many haptic buttons don’t work at all when your fingers are wet and work poorly when they are dry. Mercedes, did you ever test this?! Summary: solid feel, excellent sound system but questionable interior design and the dangerous reliance of screen based controls for frequently used functions and haptic buttons that don’t work well are big let downs. And then there is the price of $61k…

Great............but also, not great!
There's much to like (or even love), about the GLC350e! This vehicle is built on another level, compared to so many other vehicles out there! Everywhere I look and touch, has a wonderful fit, finish and presentation. It drives well, and comports itself with aplomb. Yes, it's expensive! If you spend the time to observe the materials used everywhere, you can see how first rate it is in so many ways, with that superb fit and finish. Quiet and capable in virtually all respects. That's where this vehicle shines. That being said however, it misses the mark in several ways. Virtually all mfgs. offer an 8 yr./100,000. mile warranty on the battery and related components. MB demonstrates it's lack of confidence in these components with a 6 yr./62K warranty instead. That's 2 years fewer and 38K miles less than, the others. Not a way to entice potential owners, in my opinion! Depreciation is an unpleasant surprise because it seems, puzzlingly, excessive. Maintenance costs are definitely on the high side and, let's face it.....a quart of oil is a quart of oil when compared directly to the SAE equivalent elsewhere for example; but it'll cost you more when your MB is serviced...........a lot more! I don't mind paying a bit more for the price of entry for a vehicle of this build quality, but to continually realize after purchase that the vehicle is worth so much less than you paid for it, and the service costs are out of proportion for what each service should cost, I think MB has failed to see what it should be doing, instead of what it's doing because they have been able to get away with it. Imagine the inherent value of this vehicle, if only it led the way in the marketplace by demonstrating how little their vehicles depreciate, and how inexpensive it is to maintain one, instead. Set the benchmark for reliability, while you're at it, MB.

Two year test drive on a Diet EV.
My 5th Mercedes, wanted to buy something far less expensive but also wanted to go EV b/c had enough of gas powered cars and lawn equipment, but that’s a story for another review. Wife INSISTED I get a Mercedes similar to her 2024 C300 so it’s familiar to her. This is my sticking point: one of these cars isn’t like the other. The new operating system for the infotainment is quite different and requires patience when using SXM. It loads favorites very slowly and quick access to those SXM favorites is no longer a swipe across any of the screens. It’s like asking the guy in the car next to you the change the radio station. It’s a small gripe but ruins what is otherwise an amazing car. Ride is smooth as is power delivery except in Sport mode. Battery Hold is the best overall driving mode. Fuel mileage is about 31 MPG combined. Charging is 21 hours on 110 volt but had a dryer plug installed in the driveway so now 3 hours for 53 miles of EV driving. Electric cost is about $2.00 once a week so only sit in the long lines at the Costco fuel island about every other week and even then, $32 to fill up at $4.67 premium. Still not happy about expensive Mercedes maintenance but like my mother always said “If you have to ask how much, you can’t afford it”. Leased for 2 years at the end of the $7500 EV incentive so I got a killer deal. Fully loaded with everything except AMG package which really doesn’t add anything useful because the GLC350e comes standard with the AMG brake system, the only real value of the AMG packages. Well, that and the AMG floor mats which always make your car go faster. Goodyear 18 inch run flat staggered tires are another point of contention: I do like run flat tires because I just had a flat front tire and was able to drive around for four days until the dealer got a replacement tire. Why does Mercedes insist on staggered tire sizes on base model cars??? I get it on actual AMG cars b/c they are performance biased cars. All things considered and knowing the driver monitoring and reporting technology coming in 2027, will most likely buy out the car.

Drives like a dream.
I compared several autos in the same price range and class. The GLC was by far the best built with excellent materials and finish. The ride was super quiet and comfortable with plenty of power. Having driven it for about 2,500 km, the fuel consumption is excellent at 7.4L/100km (sorry for metric measurements). Very happy with my choice.
