I bought this car used, with extra low milage, from an owner in Italy. Although I was never a MB nut, I can see why people love the brand. It is, for a 13 year old car, a step above most cars that are supposedly younger, better etc. and cost the same if not more. While reliability is an issue in the W210's, you can't expect a 13 year old car to be flawless or not experience any mechanical failures from wear and tear. From my research, the W210's are the last of the proper German engineered and assembled MB's (some say the W124's were the last such breed). If you are planning on buying a used W210, especially the E420, take it to an honest MB dealer and get it thoroughly checked. Then enjoy.
The comfort. The big V8. The rumble of the M119 engine. Silly creature comforts that most American brands are offering now as "new" innovations. The W210 at introduction introduced a completely new styling paradigm that still feels "different" and has been copied by many a car company to this day.
If you are buying a used one, service history is key. Make sure the car has been taken care of. Check for leaks, check the transmission, all the most common things that go wrong (just google it). Be warned, if you can't do some mechanical things on your own, the MB dealer is quite pricey.
I enjoy my car on the highway but in the city, the gas mileage is terrible. The car is designed so that the heat only comes in from the sides and not from the front which makes it cold in the winter. The center dash contains the windows buttons and trunk buttons and will short out if you have spillage. The leather is not the best either. It is hard. In addition, the car is hard to drive since it is only power assisted. There is only a cassette in the car. The styling is beautiful. It looks very much like some of the newer cars. I purchased it used with 38 thousand miles.
I like the styling.
Move the car components from the center for operation.
I bought this car with 222,000 miles on it from a family friend. In 7 days, the radiator blew, but for 3 years after, now with 244,000 miles, the car drives beautifully. Comfort, handling, horsepower, and after tinting the windows, style. I plan to drive this car until it breaks down completely, overall it is a true gentleman's ride.
Horsepower, handling that is surprisingly good for this size of a car, sun roof, interior.
small repairs can be costly, but as long as you maintain the car well and treat it nicely, it is reliable without requiring expensive repairs.
This is a Nice car and fun to drive I have had it for 3 years and abuse it on cornering and accelerating. Engine and suspension have not failed! Of course their are some repairs, water pump fuel pump and minor things that might be expensive.. But this is not a car for the poor. I love this car and I installed a turbo and engine has not failed at 190,000 miles... Its not what the car is worth if you love the car their is no price.
second MB 1st was a S.The E has much better handling, power.Super strong motor. JUST BOUGHT 2007 E 320. Feels slow heavy. Never had any problems other then false computer reads and expensive headlight replacements[xeon] Best car so far better then the 2007. never buy a V 6 again.
